Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner

The scanner works smoothly and efficiently and is esp. good for medium format transparencies-a rare feature on an affordable scanner. The included software is excellent and far beyond what I expected. All in all, I am delighted with my purchase.
The scanner was purchased to scan slides, transfer to a DVD, and project on a 50" HDTV. I was looking for the best method to accomplish this. What I have done is very grainy. The only answer I received was to go to the instruction manual. I had already pored through this and found the instructions weak in this area. So far, I have not used the scanner for any other use.
Photos, yeah, documents, yeah, anything else, yeah! Most scanners are capable beasts with the usual articles, but give them some film, watch out! This one rocks with film, colors are true, resolution is good (I haven't tried the interpolated resolutions yet, just native), great job Epson!
I have this scanner at home & was surprised to find that the college where I take photography & photoshop classes from uses the same one. The professor just raved about how good this one was & they had one at almost every desk in more than 5 classrooms. What a surprise when I double-checked mine at home & found it was the same one. Top-notch quality & yet so easy to use. I have been using this scanner for at least 2 years. I've scanned so many photos for sharing as well as to repair old & damaged family photos. Love it!
Got this to scan 35mm slides, and negatives (both color and b&W). Had it set up and working in an hour and did my test batches of slides and negatives with excellent results. Even handled a bunch of old 1/2 frame 35mm slides. Took one of my favorite tri-X negatives and using Elements 7 and my printer, got as good a print as I ever did in a darkrooom.
I was looking for a scanner that would actually scan negatives of all sizes... this is the one. The scans of pictures is clear and looks great. I am very impressed with this scanner and would recommend it to anyone looking for a scanner that will scan negatives, black and white and color and pictures.
