I am really happy with my V500 scanner. Admittedly I am an old guy and have a good deal of problem with electronics especially with trying to scan something from the 4 way printers. I had heard that Epson was the best so I called Epson direct and had a fantastic very knowledgeable salesman who just helped me immensely. Just walked me thru it step by step and I have to say that there are not to many steps so that helps me. Price was very good and I had it the next day. Admittedly my kids set it up for me but I have been a happy camper ever since.
I have hundreds of old family photos and slides which this scanner has helped restore into digital format. I have very pleased with the results thus far.
I find the Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner easy to use with so much choices of scanning to use. I have scanned some slides with the scanner and though it is time consuming it was successful. I like working with this scanner.
I couldn't believe how easy it was to install and start scanning my kids baby photos from the early 90's. So excited to get this made into to photo books and and on individual drives for them to all have a set. Instead of having heavy, clunky albums that are falling apart, they all fit on a small portable drive. Awesome scanner!! Worth every penny!
This is a great low-volume scanner. Feeding sheets one-by-one is not practical for an office for example. Interface allows for lots of options. Scan quality is excellent. OCR software comes with scanner.
I have owned this scanner for SEVERAL years it has been extremely reliable and very instrumental in my office day to day operations. Special note to keep this unit at it's peak performance keeping the drivers and software updates are extremely important. The cost for this unit has gone down compared to when I intially purchased it, but overall it still is a very usedful scanner. My gratitude to Epson for it's conception making it very well made and still to this day I find more uses for it. I've seen the spec's on Epson's V700 series, of which my son (whom also is into photography) has informed me that he purchased a V700 found it incredible. But my V500 will remain a vital part of my overall office system. Besides when something works extremely to my satisfaction I stick with it.
Eventually things get worn normal ware and tear thing but if my V500 needs replacing I'll get another V500.
