Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner

The scanner does everything that is advertised and does it very well. The included software is fairly basic, but does the job. I can scan a tiny little photograph, do a little Photoshop work on it, then make a greatly enlarged print - impressive!
I can also scan 35 mm slides and negatives that are thirty years old (and older) and restore the photos to better than new condition. I recommend this scanner from Epson.

Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner

No problem using this scanner w/my Win7 64 bit PC
worked right out of the box after I downloaded the driver from the Epson website.
35 mm slides and black and white and color film negatives have been very easy to do and color restore
is great . I do edit using the Adobe Elements 6 very easy to use-Using this scanner to do 35mm slides and old neg
to make DVD slideshows -

Epson Perfection V500 Scanner

This scanner is fast and quiet, the color is amazingly accurate. Slides of my artwork scanned beautifully - now I can get rid of my light table and digitize all my work. The cover is light and stays open, a huge plus for me, as I only have use of one hand.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Epson V500 flatbed scanner

I have had this scanner since Jan 2010. Good scanner. After set up and downloading the drivers, it worked better than I had expected. I bought the scanner to scan old negatives and to burn them to disc. Love the scanner- Have put it through it's paces. Works Wonderfuly!
"This" scanner does "Not" support the Digital Ice Technology as Epson "states". (even though it has the sticker on the cover of the scanner and has the program for it -the V500 does not support Digital Ice Technology.) So, you will need another program to fix the dust and scratches and such. Bummer!
You can find that info once you click 'help' then scroll down until you come to the "Dust Removal" section. Where it clearly states : If your scanner 'does' support Digital Ice Tech. "dust Removal" will NOT be Displayed in 'Home Mode'.
That was one reason I bought it. Mabey the latest Epson Perfection photo scanners support Digital Ice Techno. But the V500 does not.
So-
if you "Want" Digital Ice Tecno. DON'T Buy the V500!
Buy the "Newest" version of the Epson Perfection.

you can edit your scanned negatives at the pixel level, remove scratches, fix that big white gouge, fix folds
and creases and it even has a part to the program
if you have a full frontal pict of your self and your
grandparents you can morph your pict to see
how you'll look when you get older. You can Morph
other picts too.
All in all I'd say the Epson V500 scanner, in conjunction with the Photo Explosion software will have you editing your negatives almost like a pro! I am also going to invest in a 1.5 terrabite External Hard drive...
Once the picts are scanned onto your computer- they eat up SOoo much space on my computer!

quick and easy, but took a bit to figure out how to save it exactly where I wanted it. I wish it could scan more than 11", though. Have a document from 1945 that was typed on legal paper, as well as scrapbook pages that are 12"
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I used the epson Perfection V500 to scan slides, almost immediately after the scanner was set up. My biggest difficulty was determining how to turn off my anti-virus and anti-malware, before loading the scanner software. I have Windows 7, and there was a V500 software element that had been unknowingly blocked by the Windows 7 security. However, the system subsequently automatically querried me for permission to load the element, and all went well.
I have been impressed with the scanner results. I have hundreds of family slides, that had been stored in boxes for years. The V500 is producing enhanced pictures, to create slide shows, which are easily duplicated for relatives.
I had initially put slides into the scanner upside down, which reversed the pictures. But those pictures were easily deleted and re-scanned. Now scanning is almost reflex.
I wish there was a methodology to set naming conventions for photos, so they could be readily rearranged after they are scanned. Perhaps there is flexibility that I am unaware of, since I am a beginner.
I would recommend this to a friend!
