V500 Photo Scanner

This is aqbsolutley the perfect scanner for bringing older film based pictures into the digital world. The auto fix features made my old pictures look like they were recently taken.

Slides and photos

Easy to set up; the software on the disc worked better than the software located on the website. The quality of digital images from slides and photographs were better than what I expected. Kodachrome slide colors remained vibrant. It would take some time to copy and preserve a large number of slides but for the money it is a good value. I have not scanned negatives yet but would expect them to be similar to the slide results. OS Windows 7 X64

Scanner on the GO

We have had the V500 scanner for a few years now and have traveled most of the states doing genealogy. We have collected 1000's of copies of Docs, pics,and in some cases items set on the scanner. All have come out great, easy to adjust scans. The speed of coping has not only amazed us but others we have worked with. Has helped us compile 6 books on one family and working on other families. WOULD BE NICE IF IT HAD A CARING CASE.

Epson Perfection V500 Photo - Excellent!

I'm a Linux user and am actively using the scanner with Kubuntu 10.10.
The scanner did require a little bit of searching to find the correct driver, but once the driver was located, the scanner was very easy to setup.
My intent was to scan 35mm negatives. I did have to use VueScan in order for the negative scanning to work, but so far it's been wonderful.
I'd highly recommend this scanner to any Linux user. Thanks to Epson for their Linux support.

Perfection v500

I've only had my Perfection V500 for a few days, but so far it has performed great. I have thousands of slides and negatives (both 35mm and medium format) to scan and it appeart to do all that it is advertised to do. I would recoment this scanner to anyone scanning photos who is on a budget.

A great value for the photographer

I had used scanners many years ago and found them to be clunky and problematic. I gave the Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner a try for general scanning and digitizing of documents, but also to allow me to scan some old slides that I wanted to be able to use digitally. I must say that I am quite favorably impressed with the scanner and the bundled software. I spent about 5 minutes with the manual and was up and running. The unit does a great job!

Great scanner

Just copied 75 slides to a CD for a friend. Love the fact that they can be cropped and edited before they are copied. They automatically eliminate the cardboard borders. And I made a file folder just for the slides. My husband teaches a Bible study class at church and scans a lot of references, so I'm sure that's what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Just simply following the directions, I am well on my way to putting the family slides on the computer. I am impressed with the organization of the help available if I run into trouble. The scanner does a nice job! Old slides turn out great.
