Good Value vs Price

Having used flatbed scanner and engineering scanners for almost twenty years, this one is one of the better flatbed scanners. It is ideal for the small office and its options make working in a production environment easy.
The setup is easy and not a hassle. The only issue I have is the software noted an “incompatibility message” with XP. I ignored that and there were no ill effects. Also, the software did not install on one user and asked for the CD.
The quality of the scans, the OCR and the PDF features are very good. The images are clear and there is no “background” clutter from page folds etc. when the brightness and contrast are adjusted.
The PDF management is above average. File size vs. resolution on PDF’s is good.
For what you get, this scanner package is a bargain.
The machine works easily and the instructions for connecting and loading software are simple to use.
My big complaint is that I need more written instructions on the various options for using the machine, For example scanning documents vs photographs. This would greatly facility use of this good product.
Over the years, my current scanner, Epson Perfection V500 scanner, is the 3rd scanner I have purchased. There was nothing terribly wrong with my previous choices, but, they were not able to give me the type and level of scan output I needed when I began taking my photography and graphic design hobby more seriously. The V500 gives me a choice of simple scan output and a more detailed professional choice in the scan output than I was ot able to produce previously. The files generated by the V500 give me strong color and output in various file types that can be used for many kinds of projects easily and with clear direction as to the choices I should make. I was skeptical when I read the ad for this equipment, but I am happy to say that the ad was right on the mark.
No assle installation with Vista. Great Auto scanning. Manual scanning of B/W and colour negatives allows for various settings and great results. I don't regret my purchase for the price.
An excellent scanner. I have been able to scan old photos that were so dark I could not make out tg[he images, but after scanning Icould see them pretty clearly. It has done a fantastic job for me on photos 70 years old and older that there are no negatives for. These are pictures of my ancestors and are precious to me. My only issues are, I wish the lid was a little smoother when closing and the Adobe program that was included is impossible for other programs to locate the images. I have tried numerous times to find the files using Windows Explorer to no avail. I am really pleased with the scanners performance and would reccomend it to everyone.
I searched for a looooong time to find a scanner that did a great job AND was fast. While I am not so sure about the fast, I am very happy with the great job this scanner does. I have scanned over 2000 slides so far. I have many, many to go. I wish I could get a setting that I knew was the best selection.
I have digitized most of my family pictures with a video camera on a photo stand with a program on an ME computer. I can do several pictures in a minute with excellent results. I can do 4 slides in about 12 minutes, so this is a different ballgame. I line up other jobs, or dust, in the downtime.....otherwise I would go nuts.
I have recommended this machine to several other people who are dredding the slide job.
