My only complain: I can not recalibrate this scanner (The scanner is slightly off)

Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner

I have started a retirement project, scanning the multitude of pictures taken during our 55 years of marriage so they can be shared with our children and extended family. So far the process has gone much better than anticipated, the scanner has met and exceeded my expectations in every sense. Very user friendly, easy to maintain a good pace. Hopefuly I will meet my self imposed Christmas 2013 target date, the scanner is able, my part is what is in question.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Epson Perfection V500

The scanner is easy to use and produces very good images. I have only used it for scanning B&W and color prints and haven't used the slide scanning feature. I scan in Profesional Mode o produce 1200 dpi, 16-bit images and get great results.
The software is another matter. When Epson Scan is working, it does exactly what I need it to do and gives me good control. The problem is, Epson has not kept up with changes for the MAC OS 10 operating system. Apple's latest version of X, 10.8.4, broke my ability to use the scanner as the Epson software would hang up constantly. I believe it has something to do with Apple's going to 64-bit, but the Epson software team does not seem to be in a hurry to address this issue. In all fairness, since the 10.8.4 upgrade, even Vue Scan does not work well anymore. Hopefully Epson will address this issue quickly as Epson Scan does what it says when it likes its environment.

Am uploading photos and slides....works better then I had hoped. Fast and user friendly and the software lets you edit your pics. Highly recommend. Excellent results , quality and all at a reasonable price.

If you want a flatbed scanner that gives you very good, if not, professional scanning results, at a reasonably price, then the Epson Perfection V500 Photo Scanner would be a great choice. I have never been disappointed with its capabilities or the results it produces. I'd buy another Epson scanner when I need a new one.

I am enjoying putting my genealogy stuff on my computer. I like that I can copy 4 slides at a time! Thou the slide holder moves around a bit to much wish it had something that would hold it better.
Haven't tried film yet.
Just wish it wouldn't show the different screens after each picture and that it would ask would you like to copy another photo instead of having to push the button each time!
