Great Scanner

I just purchased this scanner. It does an excellent job! I would have given it a 5 star BUT it does NOT come with a user manual. If you do not have Internet service I would look at another scanner. I have the Internet, but it is a hassle stopping what I am doing to go to the net to find out how to do something. I would have even been willing to print the manual out. Only problem with it, no easily accessible user manual.
I really like the scanner. It does an excellent job with all sorts of originals (text, graphics, or photos). I particularly like creating a scan copy in pdf format for best quality. As feedback on future enhancements, I would like (1) the ability to designate where to store a scan-produced file, (2) one click computer access to the various scan options (print copy, email copy, pdf copy), rather than the scanner buttons or the program launch sequence, and (3) ability to access the scanner from another computer on the network.
I had to replace my last epson scanner because the slide and photo features were no longer working. This new scanner is easy to operate and seems to produce very good images in all three of the modes. I'm looking forward to getting some big projects done now that I can scan my old negatives and slides.
THIS SCANNER REALLY SAVED ALOT OF MY OLD PICTURES I HAVE AND I REALLY WOULD RECOMEND THIS TO ANYONE WHO IS TRYING TO PUT THEIR OLD PICTURES ON CD TO SAVE FOR THE FUTURE -IS TRULY A LIFE SAVER AND REALLY EASY TO DO AS WELL!!!!! HIGHLY RECOMEND!!!!!
BRAVO-BRAVO. I just finished processing 1000+ 35mm slides, and put 800 of them on DVD's for my children. Patience is key, each slide needs to be evaluated as to whether it is a throw away or a keeper, and does it need color correction. Color correction takes time, but is straight forward. I was dreading this task, but the V500 made it easy. I used a Windows -7, 64 bit processor computer. PS.. I down loaded Epson 13658 software. How canI obtain a set of Windows-7 software CD's for my V500 Photo Scanner ??
I am not use to writing reviews ... I can tell you that I love this scanner... I had a older one from Epson and I wanted to update... my friend took my old one and is still using it.. wow huh... this one, the photos that I scan are so beautiful clear and sharp...and it does the best it can with some of my really old 35mm photos that I did not do a good job of taking the picture...I love the Dust and scratch removal that's great...I like the looks of it also that is a nice bonus for sitting on the desk... I like that I can move it to another location and plug into my laptop I have windows 7 on my laptop and so it goes between Vista and Windows 7 with out any problems...oh yes the one feature that it has that I love and use all the time is the email one... you just push the little button it it does it's thing... I have taken the photo from email and then the same one and scanned it to the computer and I cannot tell the difference... great huh...hope this helps you...I would buy another one from Epson...
