V500 Scanner

Best electronic purchase this year.
Easy to use, results excellent. Live in Hurricane Belt so if ever we have to leave don't want to lug boxes of pics. Will have them all on Thumb Drives and makes wonderful gift to family members!

Terrific converter for 33 mm slides to digital

We've tried lots of devices to convert old 35 mm slides to digital format. The V500 is the very FIRST to ever have done the job as we wanted. The "dust cleaning" mechanism and other such assisting software pieces make the job as easy as it could possibly be.
Our only minor complaint is that the highly-touted ICE processing takes much too long, and we're not certain the results are worth the investment of our time. However, the "Full Mode" dust cleaner does the job quite adequately for us.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Came as advertised. Very easy to setup and use. Came with good bundled products. Produced excellent results. Small foot print, sits neatly on the desk. Very little noise. very little warm up time. Excellent price

I have used the scanner to copy photo's of my grandchildren and am exceptionally pleased with the way they came out. I also tried several 35mm slides from the 50's and they came out great!

Worthwhile Purchase

I purchased the V500 Photo scanner because I wanted to be able to digitize transparencies. I have had great success doing so. The Dry Ice software will remove many of the problems that the normal clean up software will not. My only disappointment is the time it takes to create the scans. The scanner will only do 4 at a time and I have many, many slides to convert. Typical scanning of reflective art, copy, and photographs works fine. I do like the fact that I can scan in pdf format. Although warned by the instructions not to load the CD if I had Windows 7 I did in error and it took a MIS guy at work to go into the Registry to be able to get it out so I could download the appropriate driver from the Epson site.

I purchased this unit for the purpose of scanning tons of old photos and negatives into digital format. I wanted a scanner that would give exceptional results and one that would work well with my new 27" iMac. After doing some research and comparing this scanner with other brands, I decided to purchase this one. What great choice! I am very pleased with its ease of use, exceptional scanning qualities, and with the software that came bundled with it. It does a fantastic job with my color negatives and color slides. The warm up time is extremely fast which means less wasted time. Set was a piece of cake and the fact that it's wireless is a real plus. The price is quite reasonable and I would definitely recommend this scanner to my friends.

Excellent Scanner for the Money

Provides a very wide range of densities, from the usual 300 (or lower) to 6400 dpi, allowing for "quickie" rough-draft scans as well as high detail for later blow-up use. Handles scanning of lumpy 3-D objects quite well, like an illustration on page 200 of a 300-page book. The only "con" I've found so far is that it's slow (scan times of 4-5 minutes are usual for high density images). Comes with a free CD of Adobe Photoshop, which is a good thing if you have a Mac with iPhoto (which can't handle high-density images). NOTE: software for the V500 must be downloaded from the Epson website, if you have a Mac, but download and installation is quick and easy.
