Great slide scanner

For the do-it-yourself types, this is a great slide scanner for home use. Yes, at the high quality setting, it takes a couple of minutes per slide, but it scanned and cleaned up my 50 year old slides just great. The biggest drawback is that there is no manual. It is only available on-line and you can't print it out.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Being a beginner with film scanners and only marginally more with computers,I was pleased that I could setup and use it as quickly as I did (30-40mins. I guess). I really love this thing. It's really cool to see images I hadn't seen in years pop up on the screen.Some slides I've never seen. I can't wait to get to the neg's.! I do wish it had 4x5 capability though but that's a whole 'nother animal. Oh well,GREAT JOB GUYS.

The “Epson Perfection® V500 Photo” is great. The tray that holds the negatives is the best of all. I have over 50 years of photos which I am digitizing into ‘jepg’ files. With the old scanner I had to remove the photo from the photo album and place it on the scanner. With the tray I can scan 8 to 10 negatives at one time. With over 50 years of photos, I should be able to complete this project much faster. Question for y’all, if I break the tray, can I buy another??

I am scanning thousands of baby to adult hood pictures of my 3 children. The V500 does this so quickly and efficiently. This is by far the best purchase I've made. It is so simply and easy to use. Works great with my Mac & Snow Leopard.

Epson V500 Review
This is the product that I needed. I purchased and returned a different brand because the film scanning was limited to 35mm but I have a box of family photo negatives from the forties to scan. The 6 cm by 12 cm (2.36” by 4.72”) film scanning capability allows me to scan the larger negatives in one pass.
The ability to adjust brightness and contrast from the preview enables high quality images that might otherwise be too light or too dark due to over or under exposure.
In my efforts to document my family tree, this scanner is an invaluable asset plus I can share copies of photos with my family that they would not otherwise have access to.
Next on the agenda is scanning my color slides from my US Navy days and family life of the ‘70s and ‘80s. There are various film and slide holders that make this scanning very easy to accomplish.

excellent scanner

I purchased the v500 to scan the more than 2000 slides. I've completed 300 so far. The scanner is easy to use and has all the controls I will ever need. I had some very important stereo slides. Because of the odd size and 2 films per slide I couldn't figure out how to scan them. I tried a few things but couldn't get it to work. I emailed Epson tech with my problem. 4 days later I had an email from Epson with directions. It worked great I scanned one stereo slide that was printed at 11x14 it is sharp and clear with no noticeable grain. Beatuiful!! I can't believe the quality for the price.

While the ability to create from film negatives and sldes is a very important plus, the glitchy, slow and clunky performance of the software is very annoying.

Epson Scanner v500 Photo

I have had no problems and it makes excellent scans. I had purchased another brand of slide scanner which gave poor results. The Epson was able to scan slides with more than excellent results and high definition. I would reccommend it for anyone who wants a flat bed scanner.
