Epson Perfection V500 Scanner Is Great

This scanner is customized for photo users. It made short work of a collection of 20 to 40 year-old slides. I appreciated the automatic cropping feature which removes the cardboard borders during the conversion process. I had placed some slides upside down or inverted them. That was not a problem, since I could easily correct that without the hassle of touching the slide!
Of course, since this scanner comes with ICE software, I was able to remove some imperfections directly during the process. Also very easy to direct finished scan products to specific files at a different resolutions.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent product

I had the V500 now for about 3 weeks and the best scanner so far. Very intuitive when it come to scanning negs and groups of photo's.
When it's time to upgrade, it will be an Epson product.
Got it on sale, and the best bang for the buck !

Good scanner

I wore out a Perfection 3170 Photo so decided to stay with a good product. The V500 works fine, and there was no learning curve with the software -- it works just the same. That's good. Haven't tried the slide option yet but expect no problems.
I would recommend this to a friend!

REALLY DOES A GREAT JOB

...haved scanned over 3000 slides and 300 photos. preserving family photos from as much as 60 years ago. images scan easily, good resolution, and now all are preserved & can be shared.

Great B&W negative scanner

I bought this scanner because I had many, old medium format (2.25 x 2.25") negatives (B&W and color) that needed to be digitized and preserved. After a bit of experimentation, I ended up using the 'Professional' mode with great results. Being an engineer, the more knobs the better. Professional mode offers better control of the entire process and the results are stunning! I scanned the 2.25 x 2.25" negatives in 3200 dpi mode. This resulted in jpg files of 8-10 meg each. I scanned a few 35 mm negs at 6400 dpi, again in professional mode with excellent results. Curl is a problem with some of my old 35 mm negatives. But if they are correctly placed shiny side down in the holder, the bottom glass tends to 'smash' out the curl. I even have some color negatives that are somewhere in size between 35 mm and medium format. There is no holder for this size, but I was able to scan them by laying them inside the viewing area of the medium format holder, again with great results. I have not scanned any photos yet, only negatives. However, I am sure that will work equally well.

Epson Perfection v500 Photo Scanner

I don't usually respond to surveys, but this time I am so pleased with the product and the various capabilities it has to offer, I felt the need to respond. I just finished scanning in 1164 slides which I had put off for some time and using various features like color correction etc., I now have all of my keepsakes on disc and ready to use. Using other creative software I, also have the ability to create slide shows etc. It's as great product!
