Worth the price

I purchased a refurbished unit and it worked fine. After just over scanning 1,100 slides in a week something went out. I called Epson and explained the situation. They immediately sent a prepaid FedEx return label and shipped a replacement V500 FedEx overnight. The new unit has worked flawlessly and have now scanned another 2,000+ slides in about 9 days. I am able to scan over 70 per hour and can go ahead working on the computer between each new batch of slides. The V500 does the job and is certainly work the price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Scanner for Artist

My first scanner was an Epson. I bought it 6-8 years ago... I forget. Anyway, I had it quite a while and loved it. It really set a high bar for me, and when I've used other scanners, I just did not get the quality I could expect from my Epson. Now I wish I could remember what model it was... oh well. Regardless, it finally stopped working last year. I'm not sure if ~5 for a scanner is a short life expectancy... perhaps.

The V500 does not disappoint. The utility software has changed, but after I goofed around with the settings I eventually figured out how to get what I wanted. I remember my old scanner utility adjusted the image based on what the marquee was selecting. I would place color swatches in the scan just to balance the color and contrast the way I wanted. I don't know how to do that with the new scanner. Otherwise, the quality is great.

Hopefully this one will last a long time. I wonder if the bulb is replaceable. My hope is that this device will outlive its bulb. That would be da bomb. Or da bulb. ...sorry, that was bad. Okay, I'll end this for realz now.

I think it is great in the beginning I did not get all the courds ,but by the end of the day I got it working fine. I scan almost every thing thats papper I have. I it is little squeaky ,but I can live with that.I even disided to buy a projector and a screen really no kidding. Pesonally I thin EPSON is one of the best brands ever . So if this is helpfull go buy yourself a EPSON prouduct at the closest electronic store near you. P . S. I loved the color of the scanner.

I scaned all of my 35 mm films into my computer but still had instamatic film that was the same width as 35 mm but only had winding holes on one side about 1 1/4 in. apart. it would not scan properly. To solve the problem I used an old picture cuter (with out a blade). ""I would lift the cuting guide bar every time that I had to move the film strip"". In the picture over lap area using the picture cuter I would aline the edeg of picture with the guide bar and scrape about 1/16in. of the film coating off out of the picture overlap area. Than my Epson Perfection V500 Photo scanner would process it like it was 35 mm. film negatives. I salveged over 600 pictures I had taken back in the 70,s. All my pictures were lost and all I had saved were the negatives. Now I can print any one I want or view them on my computer.

Exceeded my expectations

Just bought the V500 to digitize 35mm and 2x2 slides. This scanner has exceeded my expectations. Once I learned how to properly place the template and use the software, it was a breeze to use. I had one 35mm slide, over 30 years old and could not identify 2 out of 3 people on the slide. The ICE technology was able to enhance the slide that I can now identify all 3 people for the first time ever. Even the 2x2 slides, some of which are over 50 years old, scanned well and with the built-in enhancements will now be included in the family photo album. Once the relatives see the results I may be busy for some time converting their 35mm and 2x2 slides. Thank you Epson for a quality product. I wasn't ready to have to pay for slide to photo conversion unless I absolutely had to. This scanner will more than pay for itself in just 50 slide conversions. I guess you can tell I am very pleased with this scanner.

v500 photo scanner

I bought the v500 scanner as a factory refurbished. Could not tell from a new one. Works like a charm. I teach digital camera classes and like the ability to copy negatives and slides and put them on a CD or DVD or flash drive for the students.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Major Project - Done - Thanks to V500

I used the Epson V500 to scan all of our family slides - over 1,000! It was easy - and now my mom and 5 siblings all have their very own digitalized family memories. What a great Christmas gift it made! It brought tears to their eyes - something they will always cherish. It's so amazing that they can hold that whole family album in the palm of their hand on a thumb drive. The V500 made the process easy. I searched for a long time for just the right scanner to do the job - the V500 fit the bill. I could scan several slides at a time - and fast. A large project, made easy! Thanks, Epson!
