What's great about it: Realistic Graphics, Unique Controls
What's not so great: Cannot be a female skater (Biggest nono ever) and cannot get off your board to walk
I have not played the game as much to review about its storyline/challenges, but this is a great game for Tony Hawks fans and Skateboard fans. 1 thing I hate most about Skate is not choosing a gender; I love Tony Hawks because I can make myself, a female, and the story would still be the same. Another thing i find irritating is that you can't get off your board to walk around and explore; you skate forever. Which gets annoying if you want to just walk up some stairs instead of jumping.
Overall It is a fun game and price is nice and cheap, but I am not sure If i would get Skate 2, which comes out next month; I may go back to Tony Hawks.

This is the best skate game ever. I bought it for the ps3 a month ago. It is so worth the money. The graphics are incredible and its very realistic. The flickit controls might be confusing at first, but once you figure it out, it just adds to the realism. The onlineline is great. You can upload your own footage to the web and view others. It is so much better than tony hawk.

I originally Bought Tony Hawk Proving Ground, until I got home and read the reviews...I ran back to the store and exchanged it for Skate. I couldn't be happier. After 5 min of playing, my friend and I couldn't stop laughing at the different crashes we had. It DOES have a free Skate option unlike Tony Hawk. This game is perfect..especiallly at the $39 price...get it!!

What's great about it: Flick-It controls--Whole game
What's not so great: Online gets laggy (rarley)
If you've ever played any of the tony hawk games from the past. You know how it felt to be a big time skate boarder. But in this game you have all new thoughts about that! This game brings a whole new way to play with its one of a kind flick-it controls. Its probably the best way to do tricks instead of pushing random buttons to do tricks. this game has a fantastic story line. You start out as some punk kid trying to go pro like any game. But along the way you get sponser for your board,trunks,shoes,and wheels. You do gnarly shots for skate board mags, and become one of the best skaters of all time. The game has a huge map and great locations like the X-Games and downtown (just to name a few). The online play is real fun. There is something for everyone from rookies which can use freeskate and unranked matches, all the way to the pros with ranked matches. There are about 7 events. S.K.A.T.E, Best trick, and all the way to Death races. If you dont have this game yet, I must insist that you go out and buy this game now! Its will a game that you love and replay for a long time.

i played the demo of this game and the demo of TH proving grounds. this game was so good that i had 2 go get the whole game. and TH proving ground is the worst game evr. DO NOT GET TONY HAWK PROVING GROUNDS. I REPEAT DO NOT GET TONY HAWK PROVING GROUND. DO NOT GET IT. What's great about it: super fun controls
What's not so great: a lot of tricks have been left out
Skate is the best skateboarding game ever. it destroys tony hawk because its very realistic. You cant pull of a quad kickflip with no air like in tony. The controls are sweet and they make every grind and flip exciting because its not just pushing one button. Theres a lot of customization. My only complaint would be that a lot of tricks have been left out. A lot of grabs and flips are not included. Still a sweet game that i would play over and over again.

ea's (skate) is the best skateboarding game of all time.
the new "flick-it" control is amazing,its kinda weird at first but just practice for like 30 minutes and you improve. its not like TH where everything is so easy and there is no skill at all. "skate" challenges the player with a gameplay that test the players skill. tricks are clean, grinds are smooth. story mode is pretty cool actually. but remember, the sponser you choose will be your sponser for the entire story mode.graphics are really good, sound is amazing, and the gameplay is stunning. you could be cruising around for hours finding hundreds of spots that you can just own.

What's great about it: This game is extremely realistic, fun, and large.
What's not so great: Cant get off of the board and walk around spots
This game is a tremendous improvement from the tony hawk series. No disprespect they started it off but this game is much better in my opinion. I have skated for 4 years and this game made a great simulation if you want to play it that way but it also gives you the option to get crazy if you want to thats what I like. You can control everything. Definetely buy this game if you like skateboarding at all.

I love the game! I'm not really a fan of skate boarding games or any sports game, but this one is an exception. The graphics are awesome, and it's so much fun! You can't stop playing, it's addictive. I'm not a skater, but this game makes you feel like one. I was a little disappointed with PS3 'cause they only had shooting games and boring sports games, being a GIRL I'm not into those types of games, but this one and Rock Band are the best!!!

This game is the first for my ps3 I had the demo before i bought it every time i played the demo it made me want to buy it more. The great graphics, realistic skating, and all the little extras made it worth the money.

What's great about it: Freedom to do anything
What's not so great: Hard to do the Tricks
This game is way better than the tony hawk games. After THPS underground 2, the games started to suck.This game may have hard tricks but you will get use to them. The best thing is you have more freedom than the tony hawk games. I recommend this game to everyone that loves skateboarding games. It is well worth the money.

What's great about it: Never gets boring, realistic, graphics
What's not so great: curbs, charachter selection
Start to finish this is the best skateboarding game ever. The only comparison's that the tony hawk series has a one up on is you can pick your board up and the professional skater selection is better. Other than that it makes tony hawk look like skate or die for nintendo back in the day. This is by far the best game that came out in 2007. 2 thumbs up

What's not so great: camera angles difficult sometimes on setting up a trick
Great new skateboard game. It can be difficult getting used to the controls especially if you've been into the Tony Hawk series for the last decade. But the options of board contol and manuverability make up for the hour or two it will take to overcome it. If your into skateboarding you will be amazed at the similarity to real life. Manuals aren't just forward-backward-balance. You have to find the "sweet spot" in between riding four wheels and leaning far back. The point system is nothing like Tony Hawk games. No more 2 million combo runs. Common lines are a few thousand. Video editing is just another perk in the game. Peice together skate photage and many different camera angles with many filters to make completely unique videos to share and store. Start from the bottom with playing S.K.A.T.E with locals to being a full sponsored skateboarder in this next generation real life skateboard game. Skateboard through the winter, purchase SKATE.

This game is def.. one of my favorites. There is a huge world to explore. It kinduv reminds me of Grand Theft Auto of skate boarding... It's awsome.. the new controls are awsome..
Somtimes the camera angle is kinduv annoying because you can't (directly see the rail comming up ahead). I wish that there was a way to look around to look at some of the area your in.. It would be help.. there maybe a way to do it. I don't know..
I guess the freedom you have in this game is what I like so much!!! I prefer the feel of this game over tony hawk any day lol!

What's great about it: Amazing Graphics, Huge Maps, Lots of Skaters, Very Amuzing
What's not so great: Can't Walk Around While Off of Board, Can be Challenging at Times
This game is great. Hours of fun. Cool tricks. Awesome skaters and tricks. Huge maps in storymode. Great graphics. Cool Music. Get it will it's hot. Very realistic.
A lot better than the Tony Hawk seris. only bad thing is that you can't get off your board and walk around, and the storymode challenges can be tough at times.

If you like a button pusher game, this game isn't for you. Setup every part of your trick starting with the jump to your landing with the analog sticks. I think this may be the most realistic skate board game out there. A lot of diffrent challenges keep you hooked for hours trying to get sponsors to sign you. Great game to have...
