Waterpik seems to work well for its intended purpose but I found it to be really messy. Even on the lowest speed the water pressure is too high and causes a mess. Maybe it is just the model I have but I was disappointd in the performance. Don't use it much because of this.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought the Water Pik on my dentist's advice. I wasn't doing a good job flossing. I noticed an improvement in my gums within a week.I use the Pik after meals. So much easier than floss. I wish my old dentist had recommended this. My teeth and gums would be healthier.

I did not want to pay the price, so purchased a cheaper one, that was poorly put together. I struggled with it for one day and said to myself, "Whom am I kidding?"
I mailed it back to the company; went to a store where this one was sold and have been extremely happy with it. It has the best quality and most options of any one I looked at. It is well worth the price, as it is well made! Better yet, it is helping my mouth stay healthy in between dentist visits. I would not want to be without it ever again
