this is nuts as how this is only for store pickup and no store within 250 miles have it here in NY. Why can't it be shipped?

We finally get the solo deluxe treatment of HALLOWEEN (1978), starring the young Jamie Lee Curtis and a host of young talent. Directed by John Carpenter, (The Thing, Christine, Assault on Precinct 13), this first original film on the Halloween franchise is now a must to own 4K deluxe package. Not only do we get a nicely done outer clamshell that is not flimsy, we get the reversable insert for the original movie artwork as well.
Everything looks good and the motion menus are outstanding with easy selections.
All extras have been brought over for this and the other releases individually.
The new 2021 4K version is stunning with Dolby Atmos 7.1,
if you choose.
There is plenty of audio commentary also.
All extras are on the 2 Blu-rays, no more analog DVDs.
**** The printing on the back of outer box and 4K insert sleeve has some misprinted information on what is on each Blu-ray for the Extras. The Extras are all there on the discs, it's the printing that is the error. Whoever did the final Quality control before it went to print did a lousy job. ****

I'm sure I am not the only one who loves this movie. The restored version is great, but I would love to see a 2 disc definitve dvd in the future, including all the great versions and documentaries of the past

After gathering praise for his effective urban thriller Assault of Precinct 13, John Capenter's status as an A-list director was secure with his followup-a simple, but scary shocker called Halloween.
This one film led to almost two decades worth of imitators, none of which had the same impact. One reason for this being that Halloween had characters worth rooting for. Donald Pleasance is perfect as the doctor who's the only one with any understanding of the seemingly-inhuman killer who's escaped from his custody and returned to his old haunts to resume his murder spree. Likewise, Jamie Lee Curtis deservedly became famous as the potential victim who manages to escape Michael Myers. Also worth noting is that Nancy Loomis and P. J. Soles, as the girls who aren't so lucky, prove equally endearing and sympathetic(unlike later slasher film victims, who signed their death warrants by simply being mean to the Last Girl Standing). John Carpenter's music rivals that of Jaws, Psycho, and Suspiria as the finest score for any horror film.

perhaps the greatest horror movie ever made

Thirty years later and Halloween still remains incredibly relevant. It's still intense, and it's still a classic. Few horror movies can withstand the test of time as well as John Carpenter's Masterpiece. The reason it still works today? Simple...the story is steeped in realism and it's a situation that everybody can relate to. It boils down to that primal fear that a psycho really might be lurking in the shadows...waiting to hack you to bits.
Though several people die, Halloween doesn't really rely on gore to spook audiences. Rather it features brilliant photography that deftly places "The Shape" in the background of several scenes (usually accompanied by some disconcerting synth sound effect). It helps create this palpable tension that makes you weary a crazed maniac is creeping around every dark corner. The atmosphere benefits heavily from Carpenter's pulse pounding iconic score. You really feel as though you're part of the chase scenes and it's easy to find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat.
Halloween is the archetypal slasher movie as it practically laid the foundation of the genre for years to come. I suggest picking this one up on Blu Ray since it's arguably the best version available. No horror movie collection is complete without this one.
What's great about it: Great picture, an exrodinary difference from the regular version
What's not so great: hard to find it's flaws

After all of these years, Halloween remains my favorite horror film of all time! This time on Blu-ray in a beautiful, embosses, digibook case. They finally got the correct coloring on this release as well!

First of all, Halloween is one of my favorite movies. And any film, dated prior to the use of digital cameras, will have grain or have a certain dated look. But they've really gone back and cleaned up this print. I have never seen this movie look cleaner than it does now.
But more than that, one of my favorite features is the audio commentary by John Carpenter and Jamie Lee Curtis. It really is fun listening to these two recap their experiences while making the film. I found it very amusing during moments when Ms. Curtis would say: "Look at that, John. That's scary. That's just scary!" And I got the feeling that she really did mean it. I think it's interesting that these two can look back on something they created 35 years ago, and critique from a more adult perspective.
I also enjoyed the featurette "The Night She Came Home" which shows Jamie Lee Curtis attending her first convention. I really did like seeing her thoughts about fans, and their obsession over the Halloween franchise.
Okay ... the gist of this is ... if you're a Halloween fan, you must positively, absolutely own this blu-ray edition. And even if you're not a fan, there's no better way to watch this movie than with this 35th Anniversary Edition.
A definite recommend. Now stop reading and go buy it already!
