I LOVE this vacuum. Since getting it, I vacuum at least twice a week. It picks up everything (even stuff in my floor from several months before that my old vacuum didn't pick up). However, when I use my accessories, the brush doesn't stop rotating so that can be annoying since I have to lay the vacuum down to avoid damaging the carpet.
What's great about it: suction
What's not so great: brush does not turn off when using accessories

I have had my vacuum for about 2 months now and it has been the best vacuum I have ever purchased. The handtools are great and I love the flexible hose. The only thing that I do not like about this vacuum is the fact that when you are using the hand tools the rotating brush on the botto doesn't stop rotating. I wish they would have added a knob to have the hand tools/tube running only. I almost sucked up an entire rug when I used then hand tools/tube for the first time. Other than that it has worked great.
What's great about it: Bagless, great tools for pet hair
What's not so great: Rotating brush does not stop when using hand tools

I was getting frustrated in my search for a piece of cleaning equipment that would really remove animal hair (two long hair cats, and a dog were taking over every room of the house) When I went online and read about the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser I decided to get one immediately and try it -- and am I ever pleased with the results. It's actually been fun to use this machine and be able to remove and see what the old Oreck has been leaving behind. If you have pets, this machine is a must.
What's great about it: Picks up animal hair!!!!!!!!!

I have 2 dogs who shed heavily. I was using an older, expensive ($1,500) vacuum until it broke. I was looking at one of those $500 vacuums, but couldn't justify paying that much for one. After a lot of research, I chose this one. Now $160 plus a 4-year warranty and 3 assembly screws later, I am tickled pink. I was disgustingly amazed to see just how much embedded dirt and fir my old machine had left behind. I vacuumed the room several times and still it continued to pull out grime. My ancient carpet (soon to be replaced) looks like it just got cleaned and my house doesn't smell nearly as dusty. I've had this vacuum for 3 days now and I couldn't be happier.
What's great about it: Picks up dirt & fur embedded deep in the carpet

I have a yellow lab that sheds alot, almost year round. We also have a long haired cat. My previous vaccum did a good job, but I needed to replace it. I researched vacuums and have owned a Bissell in the past that I liked as well. Many of the reviews I read were really good for pet hair and I totally agree. I would highly recommend it...one sweep and the hair is picked up. The attachments are great as well, especially for getting pet hair off upholstery. I would buy this one again...it was easy to set up and use.
What's great about it: great dog and cat hair pickup, self-propelled, all the attachments

My son has allergies and I needed to clean up the dust and pet dander left by my friends dog. My last vacuum broke down (a dirt devil with hepa) and I started researching vacuums that are good for pet hair and allergens. I read all the reviews for the Pet Hair Eraser vacuum on this site and others, and decided to give it a try. The reviewers were right! This vacuum is awesome! It has very strong suction power and I couldn't believe the amount of dirt that came out of my carpets. It actually made me queasy seeing it and knowing that my 6 year old had been playing on those carpets and lying down on them. The attachments work well for my stairs and furniture. The only thing I don't like is that the canister doesn't have a lid or safety, so when you pull it out, it's easy for the contents to spill out. Therefore, I always detach the canister right next to the garbage can so nothing spills back on the floor. I love that it has a canister instead of bags, because buying bags is pricey and inconvenient. All in all, a great vacuum for a low price and I definitely recommend it.
What's great about it: Cleaning power, price, no need to purchase bags, plenty of attachments
What's not so great: a bit loud, canister has no lid so contents might spill out

Overall this is one of the best cheap vacuums out there. I have 3 cats and a one bedroom condo, so you know there is plenty of fur all around. From day one it worked perfectly well, but only after a few months has it begun to lose a little power. I would recommend this to anyone - I have tried a few of the $100 range ones and this is by far the best. I can't speak to the comparison to the higher priced vacuums like Oreck or Dyson though. If I were to make any suggestions it would be to have a retractable cord for plugging it in the wall. Or make it easier to dump the stuff you pick up. It can get messy when it gets fuller.
What's great about it: Picks up cat hair very well! No bags to buy or replace. Long cord.
What's not so great: Special "brush" isn't all that special. Dumping the dirt and dust can be cumbersome.
