After owning this vacuum for one year, it was a complete waste of money and I am once again on the search for a new vacuum. When I first brought it home, I loved it. My two 'cons' were that the vacuum was slightly heavier than any other vacuum I had used and the dirt canister was not very large. However, it worked great. Picked up all kinds of dirt and hair. After reading mixed reviews on the vacuum and deciding to take a chance and buy it, I was very happy with its performance within the first 6 months. After 6 months the suction became less and less. When I use the attachment tools, it blows dust and dirt out of side. And now after a year, it hardly picks anything up and makes a burning smell after being on for a few minutes. I have cleaned out the vacuum, made sure the belt is fine and cleaned the roller. I am not sure what more I could do with it but it does not function for my two dog and toddler household. I am very disappointed in this product and hope that this review will help prevent someone else from making the same mistake, because $150 is a lot of money to only get 1 year of use.

This is a great vacuum for the price. There are so many vacuums out there that reach $400-$600 and all they probably give you is more power. This vacuum is an everyday great vacuum. The bagless system is great and it does a good job with hair off the floor. Upholstery and carpet is a little different. THis is where the vacuum can use more power. It picks up the basic hair but you have to work on the hair that is rooted in your carpet or furniture. I use to have a Dyson which I loved, but it got ruined in a storm so I bought this vacuum. Great purchase for the price.
What's great about it: overall does it's job, easy to use

Let me paraphrase by saying that I had to return this vacuum--reluctantly. I have 2 dogs and a cat and it worked great on the furniture and the carpet. It works just as good if not better than a Dyson which is what I replaced the Bissell with--again reluctantly b/c of price. This vacuum would be perfect if the design was changed somewhat. The handle on the vacuum is designed leaning forward which throws the balance off...ok this would be fine as well if they would have incorporated a shut off switch for the brushbar. See what happens is when using the handtools the balance of the vacuum is off and it rocks forward and the brushbar digs into the carpet, this caused areas of fraying to my carpet. One simple on/off switch would have solved this problem, just a design flaw. Otherwise this vacuum in my opinion is a Dyson slayer. The Dyson DC-17 I have ($150 vs $500) doesn't do any better and the handtools don't work as well BUT the balance is better and the brushbar shuts off when using the handtools. Buy this vacuum and save a lot of money is you have hardwoods or low profile carpet. (Just so you know even on the highest floor setting the vacuum still dug into my carpet. I still have to recommend this product though.
What's great about it: Ease of use and vacuuming power

I really wanted to believe in this vacuum. I have 3 kids under 7, a cat and a dog and I loved the reviews and the bagless concept. I was impressed the first month as it really seemed to be working. The attachments worked great with a nice long hose. So far, so good. Even when the squeaking started at 2 months it still seemed to be cleaning so I ignored. By 3 months it was clear that it was picking up little to none of the pet hair without repeated passes across the same carpet. Now I was annoyed. As I fell out of love with it I realized that: it doesn't come close to cleaning up to the baseboards; the "pet hair eraser" is a joke - like I want to stop cleaning 6" from the wall; it is stinking heavy to carry up and down stairs; I was never able to empty the canister without spreading dust and dander everywhere; the removable filter inside was equally as messy to clean out; while the HEPA filter reads as clean the "old dog" smell started at 4 months and remains after changing filters and heavy cleaning; after using the hose it doesn't return to it's "new" shape and drags the floor as I vacuum. Admittedly, I am not a regular vacuum person; I aim for once per week. The truth is this machine has had little wear for how quickly it turned into a lemon. Choose another model. This is not your vacuum.
What's great about it: Has a long cord and hose with great accessories for cleaning
What's not so great: VERY HEAVY, does not clean all the way to the edge, squeaking & quick to lose suction, messy to empty

After a year I have bought a new vacuum (The Shark) When I first got the Pet Hair Eraser It picked up a lot of hair but when you use the hose, the open end of the tubing spits up dust and pet hair as I vacuumed with the hose...not a good thing to happen since I am trying to vacuum. The canister is a mess to empty...the Shark, the whole part comes out so there is no need to touch the dirt... Afte a year of using the Pet Hair Eraser, the suction has stopped and the brushes have stopped spinning....
What's great about it: First 6 months it was ok
What's not so great: Spits our dust when using the attachments

Just bought the Bissell pet hair eraser vacuum today. Easy assembly but the cord is in a poor location I ran the cord behind and over the lower cord winder bracket. It cleans like the dickens so far, day one. Better empty it outside or you will vacuum up the mess that spills, minor inconvenience to me I empty the cannister in the garage next to my shop vac. . I will post any other negatives if they arise.
What's great about it: Great deal with price match, cleans great
What's not so great: Cord location & emptying.
I would recommend this to a friend!

OK Folks...I have 11 dogs and 4 cats...I have got'n a lot of vac's but this one is the Best I have ever had...It is a little heavy ...but other then that it is GR8!!! I thought I would let my "White" carpet go for a few days just to see how well this one would clean my carpet..and When my friend came over and saw the "White" carpet he thought I had shampoo the rug....I also vacuumed the rest of the house today with my old vac... (because I knew this one would be in today) Then when I received this one and got it together I re-vac the house and OMG!!! I did not realized my old vac left so much behind .... So with 11 dogs and 4 cat's...this is the best I have ever had...it even beat's the old one which the cost on it was over $1,500.00 so at 1/10 of the cost of my old one...this one wins ... Hands Down!!!!
What's great about it: Picks up so good looks like I have shampoo my carpet.
