Absolutely Wonderful Pictures and Video!

I usually take either my 60D or 70D when I go on vacation, but since I had to travel light to Africa I bought the SX60HS. As you can imagine, there was a small learning curb to use this camera, but basically the knobs and futures were similar to my other cameras. I used a lot of the features on the camera and was not disappointed at all. The videos were great and taking pictures while using the video was a feature that I really liked. The lens reach was great, but there is a slight fuzziness when you get to 65 so I suggest you only take it to around 63. The camera is very comfortable to use and the buttons and dials conveniently placed. I did not use the WIFI feature because I wanted to download the pictures quickly to my computer when I got home and not learn how to use the WIFI feature first. I enlarged most of these pictures 8 1/2 x 11 and they the colors are crisp and pictures clear. You can judge for yourself after seeing my unedited pictures.

Excellent for zoom and macro

Very nice bridge camera. When I first got it, I noticed the colors were not a vivid as my previous camera, but, actually, the Canon Powershot SX60HS renders natural color. I don't always like the auto mode, because the camera chooses where to focus, which is not always where I want to focus, so I often use the "P" mode, which gives me more control. For zoom photos, the camera is great. I've noticed that, even when I think the camera is a little shaky, I usually get a good photo (see moon photo). I attribute that to image stabilization. As well as zoom, the camera is very good for Macro. Usually, however, if I'm taking something like a flower, I stand about 5 feet away and zoom in. The detail is excellent. Overall, this camera is fairly easy to operate. It does have some modes, like "sleeping baby" that I find to be useless. Most of my pictures are of birds and landscapes, so it works well for that purpose. I bought a monopod for additional stability, but find that I don't need it most of the time. Another feature I really like is the pairing with a smart phone. I track location using and iPhone 6, then transfer the location information to the camera. That was an important feature in my decision to buy the camera. I typically use the viewfinder, but the flip out screen works well too, except in very sunny situations. I am pretty much of an amateur, but had no trouble learning to use the camera. If you are looking for a camera with a long zoom, macro capability and WIFI you will be happy with the Canon SX60HS.

Totally love this camera

I've had the SX60 for more than two years. I've taken tens of thousands of images with it. I love everything about this camera. The zoom for taking photos of birds, the moon, wildlife and many other things. I love the burst feature that allows me to take multiple photos in a short time. My home looks a gallery of my photos. I've enlarged many of them to as big as 30x40 inches. I'm not a professional photographer but I'm in many Facebook photo groups. My photos are often chosen for the daily collages, header photo, etc. I know that my photos are competing with other photographers whose cameras/lenses cost ten times what mine did. For my purpose the SX60 is perfect.

Takes GREAT pictures

I am a semi-serious photographer, having graduated to entering my photos (mostly nature) in shows and having them accepted. I have had three "pro" photographers and fellow lens-lugging camera club members say, "You shot that [the picture] with THAT [camera]?" They are amazed. Super-sharp photos, large range of capability - RAW, aperture and shutter priority. Have even gotten some great shots (a photo of the day on a national nature website) with its macro feature. If you do not want to be toting and changing lenses, seriously consider this camera. Just be sure to get down the major features, just like you would on a DSLR.

Best Camera that is not a DSLR

Since retirement digital photography has become my hobby. I normally like to use the Canon 80D for most of my photography but there are times when it is just not practical to carry a large camera like that such as going to places like Walt Disney World. That is where the SX60HS is such a fantastic camera to use. Not only does it have a fantastic zoom, is very versatile, easy to carry on a long day at the parks, the picture quality is the best part. I never feel like I am sacrificing anything by using this camera instead of the 80D. I have owned it for over a year and have used it on trips to National Parks, to places like WDW and Universal, taken it local zoos and have taken fantastic pictures with it. The ability to change shooting parameters and modes makes this a great camera. I love it and use it often.

POWERSHOT SX60 HS

I love my POWERSHOT SX60 HS. For a point and shot camera it's great. The only thing is that if your going to use the full zoom which is a 35mm equivalent to 1365 make sure you use a steady tripod for best shot. Camera will have a harder time focusing if you don't because of the distance of the zoom. Since I received this camera last spring I have taken over 9000 pictures and videos with it and have enjoyed every minute. I also use 32 gb SD cards but considering trying 64 gb since I just fulled up my last card again. I would recommend this camera to someone that likes to play with settings but does not want to get into a SLR.

I had started out with an SX50 & really loved it, I was taking pictures & videoing wildlife mostly, I wanted more zoom & wifi capabilities so I upgraded to the SX60 & gave the other camera to my wife, we use them both all the time taking landscape, wildlife, & macro photos & hi definition video, Great cameras, I have thoroughly enjoyed using & learning on both, & have gotten some very nice results. Good Job Canon.

Is this camera the bext kept secret?

This is my second one! The first ended up in The Gulf of Mexico...and by the time I purchased this one...would you believe the original started working again!!
There is far more to like about SX60HS than not! I find the 'movie button' in an awkward place...but that's just a bad habit. I find that "reviewing pictures taken' is confusing and a little cumbersome...
However, when I am taking professional images...I mean the quality that are published...this device is amazing. "Zoom in" and it's a little slow to focus...but once it latches on...the images are stunning. I use a 'mono-pod' for long shorts...and have started to enjoy the 'sequencing' feature. The 'delay' is nice...there is a bright LED that gives you fair warning that you are about to be 'self-ied'!!
I guess the best tribute to this design is that it is, what Canon, now 3 years old and unchanged. That says more than I can about it. As one other said, these devices are the 'future' of SLR...and I know...that annoys purists! However, some of us just want to 'compose'...and not worry about bells and whistles. That's what makes this thing great..."Just Take the Picture"!!
