I bought from Catch in April and first time to use in July. I just turned it on for 20 seconds, the motor started sparking and broke down completely. I contacted Catch. After 1 month Catch told me better contact Kitchenaid customer service. I left message to Kitchenaid Website and also called, but no one answer the phone.

I ahve used a number of stand mixers and have found the KitchenAid to be one of the best for domestic use. There is a bit of a wobble to the stand when mixing a large load but then so do most mixers. The “hollow” base does make it a bit difficult to lift and move about otherwise I ahve been very happy with the product.

My first use was to make a sponge cake which required beating at a high speed for some time. It didn't say in the instructions book (yes, I did read this before using) that you need to go through each speed slowly and build up to the high speed. I was quite concerned when the motor was going from a constant high speed noise to dipping to lower speed - I thought I had a dud. So, I kind of figured that maybe this workhorse needed to warm up first. Since then I've had no problems. Made meringue at high speed in next to no time - kneads my dough like a Trojan - am loving my machine!
I've wanted a Kitchenaid since using one whilst training as a chef - unfortunately none of the kitchens I worked in had one but that never stopped my wanting one. The cost was the biggest factor for me so I made do at home with a $39 model from K-Mart. One of my favourite things to bake is bread and since damaging my rotator cuff and needing surgery, I haven't been able to knead the dough. I came into some money and decided that it was my time for the big purchase! It was on special at the time and that was a bigger blessing to me. I ordered it and the scraper beater and was SO happy that they arrived within the week - I haven't looked back. Sure, it's heavy to move but that is my only issue (that is what daughters are for - right?) I've made bread - it was perfect! Sponges, pavlovas, whipped cream in seconds - I'm stoked! I'm even looking at the pasta attachment... hmmm... there's no end to the magic of this machine. I'm in heaven!
