Similar to older model

I liked how this freezer came with a little ice scraper. It has plenty of space. It doesn't seem to seal as well as the older one we had. Also, the handle for opening it is in a strange place: the side of the door instead of the front.

JUST THE RIGHT SIZE FOR ME

Actually, the FIVE cubic foot model would have been big enough for one person. However, the SEVEN cubic foot model was on sale at the SAME price, so why not? I added the five-year protection plan, too. The freezer has a small footprint and it runs quietly (no problem, since it is in my basement). It should hold several months worth of food for me (and I have a large appetite).

Great little freezer for the money

Needed a compact freezer, this fits my needs perfectly. Added about 200# of meat in 2 days (after pre-chilling), everything froze quickly. And this "right-size" chest should keep me from losing things at the bottom.

No Frills Freezer

After installation I thought wow this unit is larger than I wanted. If you look at the 5 cubic versus the 7 cubic, you only need 10" more length. Energy guidelines are $4 more per year to operate compared to the 5 cubic version. Noticing a drain plug on the inside linked to the outside of the unit is a major plus. Another reviewer mentioned how quiet the unit is. When I bent down to adjust the temp I could hear the compressor running but standing up I could not hear it. If you need a " No Frills" freezer storage unit, get this one.

Beautiful Look

Needed extra freezer space and purchased this size freezer. Excellent amt. of room, with plenty of storage space for a small family. Now have extra room for garden items this summer and meats purchased on store sales too!! As always, the GE appliances meet my expectations of a great appliance!
