The Coens deliver again. Bringing with them compulsion, murder, mayhem and a simple albeit sophisticated parable.
The story revolves around Josh Brolin who stumbles across several million dollars in the desert but later makes the mistake of being too corteous and you'll see what I am refering to. Josh, who's wit in evading a psychopath played to tremendous effect by Javier Bardem, leads to only devastating events. Definitely worth watching.

I can completely understand why this won the Oscar. Lately, there aren't many m ovies that have great effects, acting and plot. The Coen brothers have made a gem!

The Coen brothers have created three masterpieces to date: Miller's Crossing, Fargo, and O'brother where art thou?. This movie falls just short of those perfect 10s, with about a 9.3. The first 90 minutes or so of this movie is absolutely perfect, an example of flawless cinema. Then the Coen brothers slam the viewer through a jarring left turn. What the viewer wants to happen, does not. Then the viewer is led down a confusing enigmatic alleyway. Anger and frustration ensue. Darn the Coen brothers! What are they thinking? Well, their thinking a lot more than most Americans, which explains why so many Americans despise the ending. The ending will resonate for days and weeks in the brain of an intelligent person and eventually make sense. The problem is most viewers want immediate gratification, not a multi-layered puzzle that requires one's grey matter to burn calories. My only complaint is that once the viewer understands why the movie unravels the way it does, there is still a stinging feeling of dissatisfaction. That's probably the intent. Bravo Joel and Ethan, Bravo.
