I needed to replace my 34 year old side by side refrigerator quickly. This model had the right dimensions as to counter depth and height and ice-maker in the door and a stainless steel finish that matched my kitchen range. We have been using it for two months now. It has some nice features including temperature indicator on the door and open door alarm. The door shelves allow for tall bottles better than my former refrigerator. I am using the top door shelf with cover for eggs even though it's too tall and I am losing space because I guess it's designed for cheese. Where else could I put the eggs so they wouldn't be likely to get broken? Additional shelf adjustments are needed in the refrigerator both top and bottom to give more flexibility in storing food. I would like to have had a separate meat compartment/drawer for storing cold cuts and meat as I had in my older refrigerator. Storage in the freezer is even more challenging. The top door shelves are very shallow. There needs to be another shelf and more shelf adjustments in the freezer. I have to pile foods on top of one another and they fall out when I retrieve something. I was happy to get a model with the exterior dimensions I needed but am disappointed in the way the interior is organized. I expected more from a GE product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nice style with function

We purchased the GE fridge with a complete suite of appliances from GE, the fact that the counter depth coincides with cabinets is great and looks excellent and the real bonus, is that this fridge is super quiet, in the past I was unable to find a quiet fridge, and the added cost of this being a counter depth fridge makes it well worth the cost. You can barely here the ice maker working, this fridge is so quiet.
We only owned it for approximately a week, but everything is outstanding so far.
Durability wise, I will post again in the future.

great look

Purchased yesterday. Runs great good storage and layout. Only complaint is the motor noise is a bit high pitched. I didnt notice that when we looked it over but last night we noticed a new noise and thats where it was coming from. Hopefully it tones down with use.

Great for a small kitchen

This model is definitely a smaller choice, but in a small kitchen, it really works well. It looks great. The main compartment could have a brighter light, but the freezer light is great. The slate finish is beautiful.

We just got our new fridge yesterday, so I cant speak to how well it last yet, but our entire kitchen has GE appliances and they have all held up great, so I assume this will be no exception. I will say the fridge is extremely quiet and the water tastes excellent due to the great filter which is included.

Great look, great color (Slate)

I needed to match a Graphite color, washer and dryer. Not much available in Slate, which is a perfect, a nice, close match.
