An OK DVD Recorder with a major problem. The volume of the recording is about half of the volume of the input. It also can't record widescreen. Anything that is already widescreen is recorded as 4:3 with the black bars at the top or bottom. My TV at least can overcome this by going to the Zoom aspect.

I have had no problems recording shows to watch at a later time. I had all kinds of problems trying to record with the Sony DVR that I had bought. I just want to watch my hockey games when I get off of work. This machine lets me do that.
What's great about it: Easy set up.
What's not so great: The picture isn't as great as others

Picked this unit up a couple of weeks ago to replace a different brand that didn't work anymore. I must say it's a great unit. Great picture even at slower recording speeds. The remote is easy to use as far as remotes go. I have not tried the HDMI hookup yet but am anxcious to see how the 1080 upconvert works. I am using it on a 37" flat panel tv right now but I can see no problem hooking it up to a much larger one. Great picture and worth the money. The only problem is it's slow loading a disc but what's a few seconds.

I did a lot of searching for a good dvd recorder for not a lot of money. I had a top of the line sony RDRGX-300 but it died on me. So I decided to go with the toshiba. It took me less than 5 minutes to hook it up. The quick guide reference helped a lot. The machine dose not have a tuner like my old sony, but for the money it is still worth it. I immediately started recording to see how good the quality of the picture was on play back. They came out great. I was very pleased with it. But I just wish it had the 1 and 1/2 hour and 3 hour recording speed on it, like my old sony. Still I am impressed with it. When finalizing a dvd it was faster than my old sony. But it takes a little reading if this is your first time owning one to see how to use it. The directions are pretty good and to the point. I am just hoping it will last as long as my old sony.
What's great about it: easy set up, good picture quality
What's not so great: Just wish it had 2 other recording times like my old sony

Initial set up instructions started out with "First." the next instruction started out with "Before." I was already lost, but it seemed to come out ok in the long run.
I haven't tried recording anything, so I have no idea whether I need another cable connection, or if the one I have for playback will work, or ???? There were many diagrams, but none of them seemed to fit my simple setup. I'll muddle through
What's great about it: For playing DVDs, it works just like an old VCR
What's not so great: Instructions are baffling. Written in English, but in another syntax.
