First time you watch this movie your going to be in suspence. I love how this movie is so different, the actors where great. I just had to buy this DVD and have it - liked the ending-HA!
What's great about it: Suspense

A frightening, exciting horrorfest

After a strange and wildly popular viral marketing campaign, Cloverfield came out to rave reviews all over. And for good reason. This is a truly exciting, frightening, and at times, disturbing American monster movie that really touches on a lot of emotions. It's well into the movie before you get a clear shot of the monster, and even then, it's a terrifying, huge, menacing beast. As opposed to most monster movies, we're seeing this from the simple person's perspective, much like the 2005 adaptation of War of the Worlds: we have no knowledge of anything that's going on, and only few scarce details gained throughout the movie light our way. A very welcome change.
However, a little bit of backstory may have helped understand the monster a bit more. The movie takes the whole "leave the viewer in the dark" concept a little too far by telling you pretty much nothing. Also, the characters are a little too cookie-cutter for my taste, with some questionable dialogue ("You're like, my main dude!" seriously, that's a line). But overall, this is a great monster movie for a new generation. If you're a fan of action flicks, this is one you shouldn't miss.
What's great about it: Very suspenseful, great action, bucks the trends of most action movies
What's not so great: Camera gets shaky at parts, some more backstory would have helped
I would recommend this to a friend!

By far one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Didn't like the unsteady camera at first, but it only makes it better and don't think I would have liked it any other way. Great acting, some humor, no rediculous far fetched things happened. Overall I think the movies was about as realistic as you can get right now if there were an event such as what takes place happening.
What's great about it: Acting, special effects, makes you think your in the action
What's not so great: Camera isn't steady, but it only makes it more realistic
I would recommend this to a friend!

This movie most definitely met my expectations! It's basically a modern day godzilla concept movie only with much, MUCH better effects, and story-line. If you like action packed, thrillers, this is the movie for you. The only thing I didn't like about it was the way it ended. Of course, I'm not going to spoil it so you will just have to buy it and see what happens for yourself! You will not be sorry.
What's great about it: Stunning effects, action packed, thriller
What's not so great: Terrible ending
I would recommend this to a friend!

Worth a watch

Reminded me of the Blair Witch Project. I do not mind the shaky came, it gives the reality feel to the movie. This story was not meant for answers to why or where the monster came from or if how and when we stopped it. It was to tell/show the story of mainly four friends trying to survive the disaster at hand. I would like to give it three stars, but could not due to the long and drawn out scenes leading to the first explosion. I get that we needed to get to know the characters, but in my opinion it took way too long.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I believe this movie was created to get the most money at the box office by tricking movie goers that they would actually learn what the monster was. Instead they got an 90 minute love story with an awful ending. The action scenes were awesome, but dragged down by a sappy love story gone awry.
What's great about it: Great action, intense scenes
What's not so great: Unknown Monster, long love story
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

it's not the scariest movie and it's sorta like the Blair Witch Project, the camera is always moving but it will probably be a good addition to your collection as it will most likely be collectible someday.
