LOTS OF STORAGE FOR THE PRICE

I bought this refrigerator and had it installed a little over a week ago. Great appliance for what we paid for it! Lots of freezer storage as well as frig space. This is my 2nd GE frig. Bought a full set of GE appliances when we had our house built back in 2003. Was sad that we had to leave the frig when we sold the house. Our new house.....will be completely replaced with GE as well. GE knows how to make refrigerators....to last.

This is my second GE side-by-side refrigerator. The first one sold with our old home. When it came time for a new refrigerator at our present home, I went for another GE with some new features!

Bought this unit on 6-20-17 after another had failed after 10 years of service. Would consider it an upgrade from the last model but the ice maker and compressor could be a little quieter. GE should look into this issue considering the price paid for this unit and from an engineers view. Nice unit and would buy again as of this review.

Great Fridge

purchased this refrigerator for our newly remolded bar in the basement... was looking for a basic fridge and those were cost the same price as this model, so we went with the added features... this has all the additives you could want for a main refrigerator... lots aof adjustable shelves, doors open wide. nice glass shelved.
the only thing I wish it has was a door stop... there no way to stop the door from hitting my wall on the right side... not a big deal, but is a kid swings it open too hard, it could damage the adjacent wall...

Good value and Quality for the Money

We purchased this unit as a replacement for another manufacturer that we owned for 4 months when it started to fail. We changed brands fully knowing that many components are the same we just hoped for better QC with the GE label. Overall even though in the same price field the GE is head and shoulders above the other "major brand" we were replacing. Fit, finish and feel of the GE is great. That said one might ask why only 4 stars. The reason is one that maybe due to turning these units out at a blistering rate gets overlooked or simply a quality control issue but none the less frustrating. The installer was great in the fact that he has had enough experience with products that he showed us the ONE big issue with the controls of the unit, THEY ARE INACCURATE. He told us to NOT trust the readouts as they 9 times out of 10 are WRONG, and HE was correct. He left us 2 very accurate test thermometers to help us set the unit to what we desired. After fine tuning the temps, we had to turn the refrigerator side to the lowest setting, 34 degrees, to maintain the recommended 37 degrees, we prefer 34 degrees but guess it is a settle for situation. The part that is distressing is that if we had not had the installer we had, we would have just set it and trusted it to be accurate and had possible food safety issues. SO CHECK YOUR UNIT. Our only other issue is the shelf spacing selection on the refrigerator side, specifically the top shelf. The lack of being able to place the top shelf closer to the top of the unit is a BIG space waster. We solved it by buying a wire shoe shelf from the Big Box home store to break the space up into two more usable spaces. We had to do this to get the most out of the space. The top shelf is so tall as to be mostly suited for milk jugs, juice jugs, 2 liter bottles, etc. This is not a problem unless you have smaller kids, vertically challenged people living in the home as they simply can not reach the shelf save the very front, the rear of shelf is off limits.
Bottom line, DO NOT necessarily shy away from the unit, it is good quality overall, very good actually. It just has a couple of quirks that you should consider and realize that you will or may need to deal with. We WOULD still buy it again if needed.

Great Refrigerator

I only have this a short time but I love, love my new refrigerator. So quiet, and efficient. I researched this model for about a year until I finally decided it was time to retire mhy 17 year old fridge.
