The 5 star rating is based on sales staff/service at Best Buy, the delivery/installation people and the initial market research related to the produce quality. Long range reliability factor obviously will come after a number of years usage.

I bought my side by side GE Profile in 2000. it is still working very well except the water dispenser stopped working. The refrigerator has been unplugged for an extended time and when plugged back in and water line connected again, the water dispenser still does not work. I do have the ice maker working just fine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This unit replaces one that we had for 13 years, without any issues. We hope that this one performs as well. The updates are nice, such as a more modern look to the ice/water dispenser, LED lights inside, wider trays on the door, though the freezer has a little less space because of the re-designed ice maker tray. We also like the gloss finish on the doors. One improvement could be a white cover for the two silver screws that hold the doors on, it's the details that make a purchase.
