All four door handles Attached fittings broken
on April 10, 2024
Posted by: Attached fittings broken
Near the front of the refrigerator door on the floor was found a black piece of plastic smooth on one side and broken edges on the back after further review I noticed at the handle of the freezer left-hand door, was pulled away approximately 1/8 inch. I retrieved my Allen wrench tool set to check the tightness of the Allen head set screw for tightness. It was adequately tight. I checked the screw at the bottom of the handle attached point it also was tight. Moving over to the refrigerator portion of the door, I noticed the top attachment point cracked ,and a gap between the door and the plastic attached point. But the Allen set screws were both tight top and bottom of the handle. I went back to the freezer door handle, left-hand side door, and loosened both sets screws to remove the handle for further investigation. Upon removing the handle five more small pieces of black plastic fell to the floor. I could see there were cracks and missing pieces on one side of the plastic housing and a hairline crack also on the opposite side all the way across, after removing two 1/2 inch long attachment screws the part literally came apart, and the aluminum fixture that holds the setscrew fell right out. It appears that this aluminum fixture that attaches to the door stud, securing the handle to the door , Has design flaw as all four attach points are cracked and broken even though all the set screws are snug and tight this aluminum ring, that attaches to the door stud, is migrating back and forth in the plastic housing it is not secure inside of this plastic housing, causing it to wear back and forth and eventually break The plastic fixture. See photos, if I’m able to upload them.

Constantly having issues. Am going to replace today with a different brand. The water feature leaks causing issues with freezing. The blower fan constantly freezes up. This fridge design was a money grab.

Product operated as expected for 4 years adterwards had problems with freezing vegetables, etc. In the middle fridge area. Top did not freeze but cold as expected. Any items placed in the middle were subject to freezing. Also, brittle plastic cracking showed at year 3 and only got worse over a period of time. Some drawers were cracked so bad in year 5 that they no longer work. These can be expensive ti replace.

Just got it and the door shelf is already broken. Haven’t had it two months. Also the ice falls down into the the freezer. Isn’t a big deal but should not do that.
