6 months old and it's already making weird noises and the other morning I woke up and all I could smell is burning plastic coming from the fridge.

Nothing but problems

I have had this fridge for two months, and I have had nothing but problems with it. First the compressor was not cooling, the coolant was leaking, and now the ice maker is not working properly. I would not recommend this fridge to any one.

Snow and thaw

My refrigerator freezer is building up snow and ice cycles. The ice dispenser will not work due to the ice thawing and refreezing. All in less than 3 weeks.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

GE Side by Side Refrigerator Freezer- GOOD BUY

Purchased this fridge in April 2016. 10 yr old previous fridge died. I was looking for something similar with moveable shelves and quickly found out most have preset shelving. The GE was one of the few with multiple shelf options. Though not as many as my previous fridge. It got very good ratings and so far has been a winner.
Very few complaints. It would be nice if the control panel lit up so you didn't have to turn on a light when getting water at night. The ice does some times come out in bulk, (this was one of the complaints in the online reviews) not a major problem though. I would also like more shelf level options, but it's better than most of the models I looked at. Overall very satisfied with the quality and performance.

Nice refigerator but beware of height of DOORS

I just got this refrigerator today after my old one died. Because of cabinets above, I couldn't go more than 69.5" from top of door hinge. On EVERY website of stores carrying this appliance, INCLUDING the GE site, maximum height was 69.5". However, no where was it mentioned that the DOORS were higher than that! Even the dealer was embarrassed because he was seeing the same information that I was. I decided to keep the unit and will have to OPEN THE FRIDGE AND FREEZER DOORS in order to ever open this cabinet (also pull out the unit a bit), but the items stored there are not used frequently anyway. I hope GE changes their specs to clarify that the doors are considerably higher than the base of the cabinet. Like the fridge but am disappointed with the misinformation.

Hearing Fan Noise with in One Year

Spacious and efficient.

We were very pleased with this purchase - the ice maker can be removed which is a plus when filling coolers. The shelves adjust easily and I love that wine bottles fit nicely in the door. Would recommend this side by side!
