Great GE Slate Side-By-Side Refrigerator

Very happy with this refrigerator/freezer. The size meets our needs. Especially like the LED lighting and slide out racks in freezer. Great ice maker and water dispenser. So glad we picked Slate over Stainless Steel.

Water taste like plastic

I bought this fridge because of the highly adjustable shelves. Many of the new fridges can't easily hold a 2 liter bottle anywhere except the door. This one is nice because you can adjust all the shelves to accommodate storing things the way you like to store them.
I was disappointed in the taste of the water. The fridge has a filter in the system but the water comes out tasting very strongly of plastic. I prefer the water straight out of our tap to the water that comes out of the fridge. The other challenge we have is that the top shelf of the freezer can not be fully used or the ice maker components in the door keep the door from closing properly. It would have been better if they sized the shelf to the space that you can actually use as it is hard to tell when something is sticking just a little too far forward and it keeps the door from closing tighly
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We bought this refrigerator/freezer to replace one that was 35 years old. We did not know how nice it was going to be to have a new model and this one is great.

We purchased this refrigerator/freezer after doing several months of research. There is only one thing I am not happy with...the water/ice dispenser does have a light which illuminates the area where these things are dispensed. However, the WORDS on the outside showing you which function is selected are not illuminated. This makes it very difficult to know where you are choosing water or ice, or selecting the light/temperature buttons in the dark. I don't have them memorized yet and am frequently pushing the wrong buttons. I wish they were lighted! Other than that, we are very happy with the look and performance of this product. Would definitely recommend it!
