Best entry level DSLR out there
on December 19, 2013

I'm not sure why this camera isn't the best selling entry level DSLR. This camera has excellent image quality. The unfortunate thing is the kit lens doesn't do it justice like most. I bought the Sony 16-50mm lens that comes with the A77 camera and the difference is outstanding. I had the chance recently to compare this camera to two Canons. The T3 and the T4i. The Sony was faster, easier to use, and took better pictures, especially in low light. Compare image quality and ease of use. See for yourself. Check reviews online that compare actual images between this and other cameras in it's class. Websites like Image Resourse is well respected.

Worth every single penny

The quality of pitures and videos for a starter cam is comparatively good than others in this range. If you are a starter this cam offers a variety of auto setups to get you started and take some amazing professional quality pics. The lenses are quiet expensive compared to other brands but if you are a Sony lover you will be glad to pay for them with your closed eyes!

Great beginer DSLR
on May 7, 2014

I have been using point and shoot cameras for many years until now. I stepped into the Sony A58 about 6 months ago. Once you get over the main DSLR learning curve (and stop shooting everything in AUTO) this camera really starts to shine. Picture clarity, versatility, features, durability, battery life, and controls meet/exceeded all of my pre-purchase expectations.

One Great Camera!
on July 20, 2014

I had owned a Sony Alpha 100 previously and loved what that camera could do. I just purchased a Sony A58, and wow, what a difference. This camera has so much more, can do so much more, it's just amazing what this newer generation of Sony cameras are about. I know this model is probably obsolete as far as features goes, but it is plenty for me. I am not a pro photographer, just love to take pics. So for that, it is just great. I'm sure in the hands of a pro, it would take on just about any kind of situation one wanted. Very happy with purchase. I'll always stick with Sony -- cannot go wrong.

Amazing camera!!

This is my first digital slr and I could not be more pleased. I'm a biologist and I spend time in the mountains here in Colorado tracking bears. Last week I took this amazing new camera up and shot the best photos of my career. The quality is phenomenal and it's way easier to use than I thought it would be. I found 7 bears and got amazing shots of every one. I HIGHLY recommend this to entry level photographers (like me) or even the enthusiast!!

Love this camera. I am an amateur photographer and this camera is so easy to use. I love being outdoors and so far this camera has not disappointed when taking shots of wildlife.

Excellent Camera for step up from point-and-click
on September 7, 2014

I've been using a normal point-and-click camera for years, but wanted to "up my game" so to speak with something a little more professional. There are quite a few settings and bells and whistles, but the learning curve is comfortable. You can start off with the amateur settings (sort of like the point and click where it'll take the best pic for you) and the viewscreen and viewfinder shows you what the lens sees, so you can take some impressive pictures. I recently used it on a vacation to the UK and also use it around town quite a bit, so it's not too bulky or heavy to carry around. It comes with easy software that will upload your pictures to your computer. Definitely worth the price!
