The Dream Machine

I own two 7D Mark 2 bodies and have added the BG16 battery grip to both. I now have a canon EF-S 17-55mm on one body and a EF 70-200mm lens mounted on then second body. I have taken both bodies out repeatedly and I am always thrilled by their performance. I have made the permitted micro focus for the lens on each of the bodies. I have both CD and SD memory ports loaded on both cameras. This configuration lets me shoot all day long, taking 1000's of images in a single day without a single concern. While shooting for over 40 years I have never been as pleased with the robustness and the image quality as I currently am with this canon product.

It's Really a Good Camera

I have the 7D and this is far better than it. The focusing ability is far better than what the 7D has. The amount of features the 7D II has is a lot to take in if you're a novice. However it's a great camera that if you take the time to learn it will make you a better photographer. I've read about all the comments about noise and the other issues and complaints that everyone has. Have patience and learn the camera. You'll be rewarded with great photos.
We live in a society that seeks instant gratification and has lost the art of learning and mastering photography. Treat taking pictures as an art and you"ll get greater enjoyment out of using the 7D II.

Great Camera

I bought this camera as a replacement to my EOS 7D and was worried because of the many reviews about how it did not focus. But after reading one review that stated it was how the camera was set and to take time to learn it that I went ahead and got it. They were right, it did not focus. Not until I read the instructions and set the camera to the right settings. The photos have been coming out great! All in focus. I take thousands of photographs every week. The city of Boise parks & recreation, and other groups often published my photographs in newsletters, pamphlets, and books. I'm also coming out with a book with a lot of wildlife photos in it and have been able to get some great shots of birds in flight with this camera. Learn your camera was the best advice on here. It worked for me.

I needed a second camera. I'm presently using a Canon 70D and I'm always outside in various adverse weather conditions, so I needed a camera that was high quality and would stand up to the conditions that I found myself in. This camera does that and more. The images are excellent! It was a bit of a learning curve...my 70D is so easy to control with the touch screen. Once I got the hang of this is was so easy also. Some of the bad reviews mentioned auto-focussing problems...the images weren't sharp. I haven't had any problems with mine. You should read the section on auto focus carefully. It's possible that the reviewers weren't using the correct settings for what they were trying to do. Also, auto focus works best at certain f-stops and lighting conditions. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the 7D MkII and recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade . By the way...it has now become my primary camera!

Bought this after so much debate over 6D and D70. Enjoying it very bit. Love the size and weight :) Shot a few pictures of birds in the back yard...never ever shot such sharp images on a cloudy day. Great camera for an advanced amateur like myself.

I am an award winning photojournalist based in Boston... I have used Canon cameras since high school. This camera is quite amazing for the price point.. Its build is that of their high pro dslr.. Its autofocus is quite amazing when used with the different cases and it's dead on.. I shot alpine skiing and two photos out of 900 were out of focus. I will take construction, durability over wifi.. Not sure what the need is for most shooters not working on deadlines.. I work on deadlines frequently and still DO NOT WANT THIS.. Also, I do not want flip screen. Just another item that could break off in situations. I am amazed with this camera and it's price point, I own 3 of them. I like the crop sensor due to sports. A 300 F2.8L IS and a 1.4 converter, I can cover any pro sports.

Excellent Woldlife and Sports Camera

Have had the 7D Mark 11 for a couple of months now and find it to be an amazingly good APS-C camera. To get the best use out of this camera though, if not already familiar with the focus system, you do need to do so. Canon learning has a good pdf file dedicated to that system. Other photographers have good reference materials also, especially for birds..
Canon has done a very good job with improving noise over the 7D and image quality. But that said, the auto focus improvements make this camera what it is. I have been able to obtain shots I never could with the 7D, 6D or any past Canon camera I have owned.
Does it miss focus, yes it does at times, but usually that is situational or because of a setting I should have changed and did not. I respectfully disagree with those who are upset over the lack of wifi. First it is not a feature I care for, second you can purchase SD cards with wifi built in. I prefer the MUCH improved build over a wifi feature. I do agree that GPS is a useless feature, it lowers battery life and in my opinion is generally just not desired.
The main con I see in this camera is battery life and that includes the N battery.

Auto focus so good it's hard to believe, 10 frames per second shooting, great low light sensitivity, and solidly built - this camera is the tool for everyday use, and specialty shooting situations. Oh, and don't forget the 65 AF points, because, you know, that flying bird or sprinting runner don't always stay in the middle of the frame.
