I purchesed the EOS Rebel T2i for Christmas 2010. It came with this lense. I took it to an Auto show and the Pictures were kindof fisheyed. It's fast and good build but the pictures were as great as I expected becuase of the fisheye effect.

this is a wide angle lens that I recommend to any amateur photographer . it is a good lens for indoor and macro and outdoor photography.the only bad points of this lens are : lack of usm motor and small aperture of lens. and the quality is so good.
Pros: Superior build quality, Super-sharp images
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not bad not best

The lens unfortunately is not enough for bird or lunar photos at all, at the 250mm end the Canon's precise image quality can not be obtained although the lens used with the super Canon 40D! As you know the 40D is made with super quality components even better than its predecessors. We use 40D for example, with other brand lenses for astrophotography easily.
Cons: Semi-sharp images, Poor build quality, Slow auto-focus
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

poor focusing on longer length

I did not realize this lens needs double focusing, and without excellent eye sight, many of my pictures on vacation a all blurred. Apparently the larger adjustment adjust only some distance out, then you must use the outer adjustment riing to top off the focusing beyond that. Not happy with the need to double focus. .
Cons: Slow auto-focus, requres two focus efforts

nice nice very nice

this complements the kit normal zoom very well and image quality is very good for price.
This lens worked flawlessly for a month in the desert south west. while it is cheaply made ie plastic it held up to a month in a back pack
its nice it is the same circumfrence ans the kit normal lens so you save on filtersspeaking of which since the barrell moves with the focus function using polorizers and gradated neutral dessity filters is a time consuming pain to use bush league actually since these filters should be considered essential for all photog use,
Pros: suprisingly durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

Throw away lens I should have waited

The lens was included with a kit and is no longer included with the T4i kits with good reason! If I knew how poorly it was built and noisy it was (useless shooting video unless you use a external mic) yes it's loud might as well shoot video next to a passing freight train, as for the build I have never seen anything made by Canon built so cheap! I though it was a counterfeit lens at first until I read others reviews if I knew canon was going to remove it from the kit and replace it with a STM version I would have waited! I had to buy a new STM lens to shoot video, I don't know what Canon was thinking when they included this piece of plastic pretending to be a Lens.

Not Sharp See Photo Comparison Two Canon Lenses

Photos Below are examples between Two Canon Lenses. Same Focal Length 70mm settings, Same ISO 400 Shutter speed 1/166 (70-300) left vs 1/128 (55-250) right. IS on both. Same Canon EOS 80D Body Taken within a minute apart. I love my Canon Products but this Lens does not work for me. The phots Below are reduced in image size the exact amount. Saved at the HIGHEST jpg Quality setting. This lens clearly has a problem.
