Unfortunately I had to return this product because it was too flimsy. With the cost of cell phones, when you purchase a holder for your vehicle you want it to be sturdy and not feel as though it will fall apart.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought this like all other reviewers. Idea was good but cheap production and quality of parts doom this product. Relatively easy to install, not so easy to remove brackets from vents. Which is where mine broke. Not easy to open also with my phone (LG Esteem) the power cord port sits right where the holding arm is. Didn't bother returning. The title indicates where I put it.
What's great about it: Install
What's not so great: Everything else
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Doesn't fit deep vent louvers like Jeep or F150. Scratches trim when mounted on other vents.
What's great about it: Good grip on iPhone
What's not so great: Doesn't fit Jeep vents, scratches trim

While my phone is in it no matter how tight I make it it still tilts forward while driving. I also don't like that it removes an air vent from my car. Now I don't even feel the air through this vent.
What's great about it: A good place to put my phone.
What's not so great: The phone is too heavy and the device tilts forward.

The very first time I tried to install it on the vent [blades?], one of the hooks came loose and shot off into the air vent. I could not see it, had to tell the rental agent what I had done so if it caused a problem it wouldn't be blamed on a future renter, and I had a gps holder with a missing part that rendered it useless. Since I needed a mount for the road trip I was currently on, I stopped at the first truck stop along the way and purchased a cup-holder-stand style gps mount. I returned the vent mount style to a Best Buy store.
What's not so great: flimsy
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is a great mount to get your cell phone secure and in a position where you can see the display when using maps or some type of driving guidance. It is somewhat difficult to install since my vents are pretty wide, but I guess that makes it more stable.
What's great about it: Puts cell phone in great location when using maps
What's not so great: The guys at the car wash keep knocking it off the vent when they dust the vents.
I would recommend this to a friend!
