The Unbalance Feature Wastes SO Much Water--YIKES!
on February 20, 2015

This machine has a MAJOR downside to it. I've owned both the washer and dryer set for a year now and I've noticed that more often than not, the washer becomes unbalanced and must refill the drum with another full load of water to correct itself. Because of its auto "balance recovery" design, the machine will not alert you of an unbalance but will automatically refill its drum with fresh water, agitate the clothing, then spin empty again to try to correct it. The machine will continually do this over and over until it feels that the clothes have become re-balanced, which results in a serious, SERIOUS waste of water!! I will balance the clothes equally upon initial loading, but because there is no center agitator to keep them somewhat in place during the wash cycle, they jumble together and then fall randomly as the drum spins empty--RESULTING IN THE UNBALANCE! It's so frustrating!!! More often than not, I'll expect the load to finish in the "Quick Wash" 35 minute time frame, but when I go downstairs to check, I often discover that the machine has shut down mid-wash because it was unable to correct its own unbalance. Then I have to restart my wash, which causes WAY more water use and WAY more time! What is supposed to be a quick, 35 minute efficient wash ends up taking over an hour (sometimes two!!) depending on how many times the stupid machine messes up. I hate this washer! These new ones look so fancy and efficient but it's not until you've stopped using your old one that you realize how poorly the new designs are. I miss my center agitator, and I wish I had never bought this washer! The dryer, though, is wonderful.

SUPER WASHER AND DRYER SET
on July 16, 2013

I have been in the market for a new washer/dryer set for a long time. This washer is a dream purchase. I got a great deal, it a beauty, and our clothes and especially towels have never smelled so fresh and clean. The performance is so much better than my old washer it is not fair to compare the two. The capacity is awesome and there is no agitator to get clothes wrapped around. I really love this washer and only wish it came with a step stool for us vertically challenged people because it is difficult to reach down into the abyss to get the last small items out...but I would not sacrifice the capacity for that one shortcoming...pun intended!
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

LOVE my new washer!

This has so many great features it's hard to know where to start. The control panel in the front is very easy to use. The cycle selections are plentiful, and I particularly like being able to alter a cycle to suit me. The washer spins at 1100 rpms, so clothing comes out so much dryer than my old machine. Everything I have washed comes out clean and fresh, and yes, you can fit a king-size quilt comfortably. I am 5'4" and at first was doubtful I could reach that last sock in the back, but the basket spins, in either direction, so I can lean down and pick up that last sock in the front of the machine quite easily. I also like the pull-out tray that holds detergent and softener, and find it's very easy to use. I am doing less loads because I can fit more in each load. Not having to choose a water level is a nice surprise as it's done for me automatically. I chose this model because it does not have any knobs to turn or buttons to push, things that broke easily on my old machine. I am 58 years old and at long last I look forward to doing laundry!

Bad balance
on February 17, 2015

I loved this machine when I first got it. Now it is constantly having balance issues. I do live alone and sometimes do not have a "large" load of laundry, but it should perform just as well with a smaller load. It has even occasionally had bad balance with a full load of towels. I don't understand it!!!! I talked my parents into getting one and they have the same problem. They hate it! I have even stopped the machine and ring clothes out myself just because it will continue to show bad balance. What can I do to correct this? I can't imagine other people do not have this issue.

Easy to Use as it Cleans Great!

First I noticed how easy it was to navigate despite the seemingly complex engineering of the washer, it simply is as easy as 1-2-3 to load and operate. I also have observed that the auto-load-sensing works great and the machine does not waste any water..Best of all, the clothes are coming out very clean & I am using less detergent (and less water!) than I ever have. The LG washer machine is quiet, efficient and does a wonderful job in cleaning our clothes!
Pros: easy to use, Quality

I love the large stainless steel drum. Great for washing large loads including blankets!
This machine is so quiet! I have already recommended this washing machine to family!
