Following on the mixed reviews of Double Dash for the Gamecube, Mario Kart Wii goes back to the series' classic formula of one racer per kart. But it's not all a throwback, though; the addition of motorbikes (don't worry, there's really not much of a difference) and tricks give a new flavor to the classic franchise. The game's best feature is the online mode, which Nintendo has finally put some serious investment into: there's hardly ever any wait, and lag is virtually non-existent. The included Wii Wheel is a cute little peripheral that is surprisingly very fun to use and is very responsive. That, and 25 characters to use mean that there's always something new to try. However, the game is far from perfect. While the rubber band AI (which is when the computer amps up the difficulty whenever you're in the lead, and it lightens up whenever you're back in the pack) has always been a part of the series, it goes a bit too far here, especially on 150CC. On that mode, it is absolutely brutal. It's probably better to just hang back and make a last-second run than to stay in first, which is just asking for trouble. Also, the graphical jump is minimal, as this just looks slightly better than Double Dash. However, this still is a really fun game, especially online. If you're a fan of fun racing games, this is definitely for you. One of the better games on the Wii this year.
What's great about it: Online play is fantastic, new courses are very well designed
What's not so great: Extremely unbalanced on harder modes, rubber band AI gets old fast

This is a great game, my dad loves it and more importantly so do I. The only con in this game is what my sister keeps complaining about, that there is no option to just drive around and do tricks(she loves doing tricks). I love how in the worldwide option of the online games because its cool playing people from swisterland, japan, etc. I recommend not buying more wii wheel, but buying the 3-pack physclone wheels, better value and they have rubber grips.
What's great about it: Fun, great family game, easy controls, cool tricks

It is so much fun, I played it the day that it came out as soon as I went home I just couldn't put it down. I bought an extra wheel so that I could play with my husband and we both just really enjoyed playing. It's also fun when you get to play with pepople worldwide, i played with people from japan, germany etc. You just have to add this to your wii gaming collection.

I purchased this game the day it came out and haven't been able to put it down! I have always been a fan of the old SNES Mario Kart, and thought nothing could top it, but this game is completely over it! All the old characters are back, including a new spin on some of the favorites such as Baby Mario, King Boo, and many others. There's also more Grand Prix levels, and you can mix it up by choosing Karts or Bikes. Overall i love the game, and can't get my friends off of it either. I highly recommend it. Haven't tried playing it without the wheel yet, but it has the same principals from what i can see.

This is possibly one of the best mario kart games in history! It really is awesome, since there are TONS of tracks to play, including old ones, and new ones. The Wii Wheel really brings a new aspect to the game, sure you can play it with a gamecube controller, but the wii wheel makes it much more fun, and enjoyable for everyone! I definitely recommend this game!
What's great about it: Many of the old tracks are back, with some new ones to keep it interesting
What's not so great: no two player racing like in double dash, but no big deal

What's great about it: The game is one of the best
