I was waiting for a nice slim, small form factor tablet. I was not satisfied with the competitions offering, way to little for way to much. I'm so glad I waited for the Note 8. It is everything I need in a tablet. Small, lightweight, & practical for all the note taking I do on a daily basis! Best of all, I was not expecting how blazing fast this little rocket of a tablet this is. I have been pleased with the multi-tasking, & Oh the S-PEN what would I do without you?! I would definitely, and am currently recommending this product to all my friends; I've even got some folks to change their mind about the competition. Some have switched to the productivity that this platform can produce! Samsung keep it up, as I am more then impressed with this product! I'm looking forward to future offerings!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, s-pen wonderful!
Cons: none
I would recommend this to a friend!

Galaxy Note 8: Day 2

Updating from a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to the Galaxy Note 8. Bought it based on the size and features. Stunning Display, better polished than the 10.1. Getting used to the smaller screen and the lower number of icons you can put on all the displays, but Graffitti works perfectly, Samsungs recognition is excellent, and with a Keyboard, this will be a brilliant device. Battery life is not as good as I had expected, but warming up to everything else. Would definitely recommend this device
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: medium battery life

Great tablet!

I purchased a Note 10.1 about two months ago and ended up returning it due to screen resolution. It just wasn't as clear as I would have liked to my eyes. Also, while the screen real estate was nice, I decided to try out the smaller 8.0 and I'm glad I did. It feels great in the hand and is amazingly responsive, much more so than the 10.1. The S-Pen is fantastic and works better, I believe than the one on my Note 2. I know the price tag is a little steep and who wouldn't want it to be cheaper. However, if you are considering this tablet to use for notes or productivity, do not hestitate. Also, it's great for entertainment and multimedia. I've read many of the reviews out there and to me, the negatives come down to personal preference regarding design. I truly don't understand the knock on Samsung's build quality. I think it's great. The specs and performance of this product are great. I'm very glad I waited for the 8.0 and I think you will be too.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, zero lag time, responsive stylus input, android customization, easy set up
Cons: the price is a bit steep

Awesome Tablet!!

I just love this device!! It can be as simple to use as you want it or it can do so much more as well. It is lightweight and just feels good in your hand. I have previously owned the Note 10.1 which I had to return because I needed the money for something that came up expectantly. So this time around I decided to try this little guy out and I have not been disappointed yet. Very responsive and very fast. At first the battery was draining quick but mostly due to constantly being on from it being new and me wanting to play with it every chance I got. But once it started to level out the battery lasts quite a while.
The only "cons" I would say are that the speakers are placed off to the side so if you are watching something in landscape mode your hand can tend to cover them up. Would have been nice had they placed them on the face of the device like they did the Note 10.1. And then the only other thing is that there is kind of like a creak up near the microSD slot. Not a huge one but it is noticeable. And I have seen that mentioned in other reviews.
I would definitely recommend this device to anyone looking for a solid and fun tablet to play around with and to work with as well.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight

Great For STUDENTS!

As a college student, I find myself using the note everyday. Even with bad handwriting, I take notes on everything and anything with this bad boy, and find it useful for just about everything. Seriously guys, whether its for productive note taking, memos, streaming or watching movies/tv. Games run smooth even with moderate use of background apps. The multitasking is what I love about SAMSUNG products, and this product just makes it even better with the use of the stylus. I wish i could use the stylus and circle anything on the screen if I'd like, like to cut a certain part of the screen but its not that big of a deal. You may want to buy a screen protector with some anti-glare though, because the screen is highly reflective.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: highly reflective screen, expensive accessories

Love My Galaxy Note!!!

I use to own an IPad, but hated it!! Sold it and purchased the Galaxy Note 8.0, it is so much easier to handle, great features, fast, the keyboard is so much better than IPad and corrections are easier and quicker to do. The S Pen is amazing!!!! And unlike the IPad, extra GBs with the MicroSD slot. Multi Window allows you to multitask and not to mention the Smart Remote, which allows me to control my TV and Cable Box!! A++++++
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, microsd slot, smart remote
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great tablet, one hiccup, also very expensive

I was originally interested in the Nexus 7, and had decided to wait for the new version with the 1920x1200 resolution. Anything lower just would not do, or so I thought.
Then I read about the Galaxy Note 8 and the idea of it grew on me. It has 2gb of RAM. It has a speedy 4-core processor. It has some useful looking features like the split-screen multitasking. But most of all, it has the stylus, the S-Pen.
I read about the Galaxy Note 8's resolution in PPI, which is about the same as my Galaxy S2 phone's screen. I looked at various things on my phone screen, imagining a tablet with that same PPI. I realized that the 1280x800 would be just fine. I like my phone screen, there's no reason I wouldn't like the tablet just as much with the same pixel density.
So I bought it. I absolutely LOVE the S-Pen. I use it all the time, for improved precision over my finger in things like web browsing, and playing certain games (like Osmos). But most of all, I love using the S-Pen as my primary input method for text. I can hand-write emails and Facebook updates, and have them converted to text, more quickly than I can Swype the same text, and way, way faster than I could hunt and peck the text as the iPhone/iPad users do. The S-Pen as primary text input was almost, all by itself, worth the extra money. I also use the pen a lot in S-Note to take hand-written notes in meetings and whatnot. I've had this tablet for less than 4 weeks and already have created a good 30 or so hand-written meeting notes, planning sessions, brain-storming doodles, etc. It's really great.
The one thing that bummed me out about the Galaxy Note 8 was the price, and only getting 16gb of internal storage, only around 9gb of which was actually free thanks to Samsung filling it up with who-knows-what. I paid something like 80% more for this Galaxy Note 8 than I would have paid for a Nexus 7. It should have come with 32gb of storage for that price, or else been a good $40-50 cheaper.
At least, unlike the Nexus 7, the GN 8 has a micro-SD expansion card slot, so I've already stuffed a 64gb card into mine. The problem of course is that a micro-SD card doesn't read or write nearly as fast as the internal storage does, so filling it up takes a long time.
The one hiccup is that I seem to be having a hardware issue where it's no longer charging at full speed (I see the red X over the battery icon), and it's no longer being recognized by my Windows 7 laptop or desktop. It still works, so I'm still using it and experimenting with ways of backing up what I have on it, while I figure out whether to return it and buy a new one, or else go through the Samsung warranty process.
But whatever happens, I'll still end up with a Galaxy Note 8. The new Nexus 7 with it's 1920x1200 resolution may beat the GN8 on screen resolution, but the cpu and ram aren't really better, and without the S-Pen, the Nexus 7 would only be half as useful to me.
Oh, yes, and I wish the Galaxy Note 8 had a larger capacity battery. With heavy usage I can have this tablet down to nothing in around two days, and I have, several times in the last 4 weeks.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, fantastically useful s-pen, speedy cpu, 2gb ram
Cons: Not high def, too expensive, not enough storage for the price
I would recommend this to a friend!
