I am a network analyst and computer professional. I build computers of all sorts regularly. I have owned and operated a multitude of Tablets at home and in the course of my work. I ordered this tablet anxiously as I had been reviewing different tablets for the previous 6 months and this tablet seemed best for my needs. When it arrived it was in great packaging and was beautiful. The speed is incredible for a tablet. The screen resolution is perfect and comparing it to other tablets with higher resolutions, they aren't worth the extra money and decrease in battery life. The sound is amazing, but I would have preferred that the speakers be on the front. It is easy to accidentally cover the speakers on the bottom. The Andorid OS is easy to use and wide open for personal adjustments, and one of my favorites. I placed Kindle app and downloaded hundreds of books on the first day with no problems. The wireless has good range and I have no problems connecting with my router from my bedroom which is 100 feet away. The S pen looks great and works perfect on my tablet. I was impressed with the hover feature of the pen. It can make a big difference when attempting to click the microlinks on some webpages. The screen is very touchy and works better than most tablets i have worked on. Thank you Samsung for an incredile Product!

Cons: speakers would be better positioned on the front

My Samsung tablet was given to be by my GEEK son! He knows quality. I love my tablet it is very portable and easy to use. I have had my Samsung tablet for 2 years now, using it daily and I have not found anything negative with this device.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight

I love this tablet, features are easy to use. However there is one problem i
have with this product and it is: making night videos., i cant seem to adjust
the lighting for the video to come out clear. I choose indoor, night,.
incandescent etc, but the vdeos are still very dark and the color is off, overall i love my gizmo..

Cons: battery life......too short., protective case hard to find, night video taping poor lighting

Being an artist and a teacher, when looking for a new tablet that would serve me well in both those capacities while also small and portable, only the Note 8 fit the bill. S Note has been my go to app for all the various notes for work, from parent conferences, professional development, to lesson planning on the go. The S- pen has completely turned me off of ever using my finger or stylus to draw or paint again. With Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, I have my sketchbook and canvases with me where ever I go and with the pressure sensitivity I need to recreate art mediums. At home, the Note 8 has beautiful graphics when I watch Netflix and play games in Power Saving mode without any loss of quality, which really impressed me.
I recommended the Note 8 to my mother, a crafter and grandma, and she's just as in love with it as I am.

Very nice tablet!

Only had the Note 8 for 2 months and loving it. Still learning S-Pen features which is a must have for study. Sound quality is nice even with speakers located at the bottom. The IR function is awesome as well.

Really dislike MHL

My review is focused on the Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) connection. Instead of having a mcro-HDMI it has the MHL. This means I have to connect a MHL adapter to my device, a hdmi cable from the adapter to the laptop, PC or TV (some adapter have built-in HDMI cable), and connect my power adapter from a power source to my MHL adapter. The purpose of the power source is to power the device since HD video can consume a lot of battery. The problem is that I have all these cables hanging from my device. I tried giving a presentation in my class and it was so cumbersome and restrictive because of the length of my power cable. Also, I was concerned about the weight of all the cables on my MHL port. I don't want the charging port on my device to become loose because of these cables hanging off of it.
I would prefer a micro HDMI connection like my other tablet has. I just connect the micro HDMI to HDMI cable between the device and my laptop/ PC or TV and give seamless presentations, or watch video without a hitch. With the Note 8 it is cumbersome because of the added power source. I have returned to using my other tablet for giving presentations in professional settings instead of the Note 8.
I would have given the Note 8 a solid 4 stars (even 4.5 stars) if it wasn't for this issue. I would still recommend this tablet if the MHL wasn't an issue to the person. You would think that Samsung would have thought about this if it wanted to pitch the Note 8 towards students and professionals.

Samsung has been amazing with the development of their devices. The galaxy note 8.0 is of everyday use to me. From appointments to entertainment. My family is a samsung family an we all cant wait to see whats next.

My Note 8

Good tablet. Colors, the pen the ability to multitask are all wonderful. Powerful processor speeds through every task and screen. However, it has a short battery life for intense wifi usage. Plastic body creaks a bit. Gets rather hot as well. The mini usb on this is touchy if I try to use it plugged in. Overall, it is still a pleasurable experience. It makes my online life easier thanks to how easy it is to manage multiple calendars, handle email and of course Clash of Clans.
Pros: intuitive pen, personal organizer, nice camera
