I just purchased the new Galaxy S4 on 5/29/13...and all I've got to share how awesome this phone is. It's so fast, gets great reception compared to my other phone. The camera features are one of a kind!! I absolutely love the big, vibrant colored screen. This is my first time using an Android phone and I know that I won't ever go with anything else but an Android. Such a personable phone, so many ways to customize it to your use needs. Best multi-tasking phone.
My only con to this phone..would be how long the battery seems to last, but I do have a lot of apps, music, and videos going on when I use my phone.
Best phone out on the market. Hands down.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, amazing camera
I would recommend this to a friend!

I previously purchased the iPhone 5s and used for a while until I just couldn't take anymore and had to go back to a Galaxy phone. I wanted the Note3 but that would be a little too big for my hands and for me to carry comfortably. I decided to return for the S4 in Brown Autumn and I have not regretted my decision. It is a huge upgrade from the S3 I previously had. I am still learning about all the new things this phone can do and can't wait to see what they will come out with next.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've always a Droid person but decided to switch to a Samsung Galaxy phone and I couldn't be happier. This phone is packed with cool features to make everyday use easier. S Voice is one of my favorite features of the phone. It takes google NOW to the next level. I think I am definitely sticking to Samsung phones now.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight

Lost in the rain

My wife lost her Galaxy S4 outside in the woods. That night, a massive rain storm came through our area dropping over 4 inches of rain. the next morning I found her phone, soaking wet. I took it apart and dried it out for about an hour. To my amazement, I put the GS4 back together and it started right up. I'm extremely impressed with the resiliency and features of the GS4, and will continue to be a loyal customer of Samsung for years to come.
Pros: resiliency

So I bit the bullet and went with the GS4, was hoping that the HTC One would show up to give it a try but sadly those prospects aren't looking good. I've been using the Razr HD and normally i would be fine with it but Motorola's software is just slower than the competition, it just felt like I was running on a much less spec'd phone. So I decided to bite the bullet and just upgrade to a GS4 after reading up on it a bunch. So lets get on with it and see what I thought.
Design: This is where people give ALOT of hate. It's not the best but honestly as far as plastic phones go It's not bad. It does have a premium look to it, the plastic on the black one atleast has a nice kind of diamond etched looking design which looked good and hided fingerprints a bit. I would have preferred a more matte finish but its not the worst. Honestly the plastic is good for durability though, these phones you can drop and drop without making any scuffs or scratches. The design is more flat and less curved so even though it is thinner than the S3 at first glance it kind of eludes to be the other way around. Button placement is decent I wish the power button was a bit lower and that it has a camera button, also would be nice to have a micro hdmi out but they aren't deal breakers. The button layout is decent, I kind of wish they had a multitask button but it works well. The one suggestion I have for Samsung is they should have made an optical pad out of the home button (ala the OG Droid Inc) . I went through sprint and held the DNA and the Lumia 928 and the GS4 just felt alot better in hand.
Performance: Some of the reviews claimed slowdown and I'm happy to see that I haven't really seen any slowdown. The phone responds really well to touch and apps open swiftly, games run like a charm, nothing to complain here its much better than my Razr. I even have my CPU power save checked and i don't notice any slowdown.
Software: More like software overload, this thing is packed. I've been using smartphones since before the Htc G1 (first android phone) and I'm well versed in everything android and this phone sort of overwhelmed me with features. Features like smart stay, smart pause, smart scroll, air gesture, palm motion, air view, smart motion. I would recommend googling them for full explanations. I use smart stay which stops the screen from turning off when it detects me looking at it,and airview which allows me to hover my finger over something to get info. The homescreen is well done, samsungs is pretty useful and speedy, I get quick settings in the dropdown menu and the stock messaging, calander, browser work well though the Nature theme is looking dated. I fell in love with multi window when I tried it though, running 2 apps side by side works seamlessly and quick. It is alot like the snap windows in windows 8.
Sidenote: one annoyance on the Verizon version only is they have a constant, irremovable wifi notification that does a great job at being really annoying, this is a carry over from the same thing that everyone hated on the GS3 apparently verizon didn't care.
Storage: 16gb is enough, in reality you only get like 10 for apps, I have like 50 apps installed and still have over half left though.
Camera: The camera is great, like I said earlier I wish It had a physical button but eh no big deal. Lots of cool features, 1080p recording with the ability to snap photos during recording is great. There is a night mode, voice option, continuous shooting mode which are great. Photos don't snap extremely fast but they are quick enough and I can set my volume keys as a shutter button. One feature I love is you can take slow motion video at 1/2 1/4 and 1/8th speed and at a resolution of 800x450 which believe it or not isn't bad at all for slow motion video. Picture and video quality is decent enough for a camera phone nothing bad.
Screen: looks brilliant, honestly at first look I can't really tell the advantage of 1080p screens on this tiny of a device but comparing with other another device it does look better. Samsung AMOLED's are always great, and have really true blacks.
Signal: Signal seems decent, it was showing slightly lower than my razr a couple of times but most time i looked at them in different places they were the same, so it's not top of the class.
Battery: I need to test this more to know. It looks like I will easily get daily usage. I have high hopes for the 2600 mah battery though I was extremely happy they went with a decently larger battery. I will update soon with impressions on the battery.
Conclusion: Bells and Whistles if you want them this has it. While Samsung hasn't done game changing on the looks department, the GS4 definitely took some engineering. Taking the old GS3 keeping almost identical dimensions (actually smaller) which giving a battery, screen size/quality, spec bump is really a great feat and shows how fast changing this field is.Not to mention all the crazy software additions on this they really put alot of work in. On Verizon now you can probably get the DNA decently cheaper however with the GS4 you get a better speced phone, better feeling phone, better battery life and all the software tid bits with it. I definitely recommend for wanted the best you can get on the best network.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight, speed, software, battery, camera options
Cons: plastic, verizon software changes, reception
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pretty new to this phone and have been off the droid circuit for a stint with the Iphone. I had an Iphone 4 so I'll compare it with that. I like the fact that you are not limited in hardware for memory, although you cannot load APS into card memory. The display is large and crisp. I started by going to the camera AP and was surprised at the clarity of the captured images as well as the number of modes. You can capture either from the front or back cameras or both superimposing the forward image in postage stamp on the rear camera image. You also have the ability to capture images in series to select the best one and even eliminate "walk-through" people for shots in public places. You even have a special setting for night photos and a panoramic setting. Nice camera.
If you are a Verizon user as I am you will need to actually enter Voice Mail and activate a message indicator or you will not be notified of waiting messages. Verizon also holds you hostage for the wireless hotspot feature but that's not a Samsung gripe.
I suggest you see the phone at a carrier store to be sure you are comfortable with the size. The phone seems a little frail so I got a protective 2 piece armor cover and it can be a little big, but I have big hands so that's OK for me.
This phone is packed with features my Iphone didn't have like previewing messages and e mail by hovering a finger over each, you can even browse photo albums (which are a breeze to create) in the same way. The HDMI video is astounding!
With some practice you can also master the feature that follows your eyes and scrolls based on head or phone movement, also can be pretty cool. I haven't quite figured out the "air gestures" yet but that seems like it might come in handy when your hands are caked in goop and you don't want to smudge your device.
I will say that battery life is better on the Iphone IV, but on the Samsung you can swap batteries which Apple does not allow. Aftermarket replacement batteries can be had pretty cheaply and the back is fairly easy to remove. You must remove the back to swap Micro SD cards as well.
This phone is much, much (did I say much?) faster than the Iphone IV. If you use the GPS maps for travel to destinations as I do, there is just no comparison. Apple's free maps are crude by comparison. All in all good upgrade for me.
Oh, and the speaker is clear and loud enough and the phone comes with earphones.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, nice bling of cool features
Cons: battery life, seems to need a protective case, might be to large for small hands

This phone is amazing. The processor is an absolute beast, and Samsung's added features are great. I've been using it a lot, I just got it, but even during regular use the phone gets very warm, and during extended use uncomfortable hot.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: gets hot during regular use

2 months since Verizon shipped the S4, I now have not one, but TWO cracked displays!!! Not cracked glass, but cracked display behind the glass. I didn't drop the phone, I used a case, I used a screen protector. Both times I put the phone in my pocket, went about my business for an hour or so, pulled the phone out and had a cracked display!!! This is UNACCEPTABLE!!! I am a staunch advocate of Samsung devices and I held out a long time to get this phone and I love the features, but it is costing me a fortune to keep replacing it. If I can't put a phone in my pocket and go about my day without breaking it, the phone is worthless.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: fragile!
