Great but...

I absolutely love this phone! but I have had problems. the charger messed up and the ear buds just stopped working. neither have been around water. other than that, it is just amazing!! keep it up Samsung!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, the big screen display

From our experience there is a 33% failure rate and if you are with verizon that headache multiples

We have a shared plan and we received 3 Samsung S4's. Two of these phones have no issue and we love the features but it is the one that does have issues that will do you in.
As per our experience out of 3 phones 1 isn't functioning correctly. That's a rough 33% chance that you will end up with a problem like the one I am going to describe below.
The samsung S4 in question was brand new out of the box. There is a 14 day warranty that VZW provides that gives you that time to decide that you like that phone and so that there are no problems with the device. Let's face it folks it takes more than 2 weeks to start seeing problems with a device or at least to confirm it. VZW knows this or knew it at some point because that same type of warranty was 30 days a few years ago. Back to the device. This samsung S4 would freeze at day 20, everytime we tried accessing the gallery or the camera. A battery would have to be pulled each time to get the phone to reset and when you go back to the gallery some of your pictures will be missing and the freeze happens again.
Samsung is the only party to blame because this is their device, their manufacturing and q/a process. When you go to the store to spend an hour with tech associate to fix your phone they will determine that you have an unknown issue. They will remedy this issue by sending you a like new replacement device. We received this like new device and then within a few days the same issue has happen with freezing of gallery and camera. But here is the bonus: This second like new replacement that has been certified by VZW to be faultless and in perfect working order has just wiped blank our SD card and is experiencing the same problem as that brand new OTB device. After a week we had some free time so we trekked on back to our verizon store.
The second trip was long over 2 hours in the store with a tech person who was unable to make the phone work. The result "We will send you a like new replacement in the mail" surely we will not have another faulty device.
The replacement device arrives the next day and works for a few days. Then the gallery is not responding again. But for a even bigger slap in the face: this device froze and will not turn on again. No matter if you pull battery or not. It won't even indicate that the charger is in. Nothing, doesn't turn on or twinkle a light. Completely dead second like new certified replacement phone.
Today I called customer service and was on a pointless call for almost an hour. I spoke to customer service then to tech support then to the supervisor of tech support who told me that they are sorry for all my problems with this device and they can send us a like new certified replacement phone as the only possible remedy.
I'm sorry for expecting anything because there is no way they can send me a brand new phone that could possible have a 66% chance at fix my problem. The supervior's exact words were "We don't have any brand new phones to give you!" But they do have them to sell to you. So far the replacement like new phones that have been certified by VZW are a 100% failure to remedy my issue. The first 2 were complete failures, so how could this even be an option at this point. I am completely appalled at how verizon has put these processes in place to make sure their bottom line doesn't shrink and to make their customers very unhappy and go through this much stress. What a shame! They were much more caring about their customers just a few years ago. This supervisor did not disagree with any of that was statement.
Save yourself the headache and frustration.
So please share and comment so that this doesn't happen to anymore customers. We people deserve to be treated better and deserve better service overall.

Overall , Great PHONE

I recently was able to get my hands on the Verizon Galaxy s4 and loved the new NFC payment app preloaded on the phone by Visa. The camera is better than my Nikon the cost more than double the price of the phone. Air gestures don't work quite that we'll but are also pretty cool. The phone should be available by the middle of May to Verizon Customers.

I would LOVE to say this phone completely exceeded my expectations for it; however, I had EXTREMELY high expectations! The phone itself is outstanding and I love all the features Samsung has come up with to propel this already advanced device into the future even further. I actually don't mind the plastic cover like everyone else, I LOVE that I can take the battery out if I ever need to. I will be purchasing a separate battery and a charging system for that. While just leaving the phone on standby with the usual battery eating features turned off, the battery really holds it's life! I could get 3 days out of it, if I wasn't addicted to checking it every 5 seconds. A fix for that is the Air Gesture where you wave your hand over the sensor at the top, when the display is off, and it shows you all notifications you need. If you need to answer any you do need to wake up the device. Overall The new features are great, the one I use most I would have to say is Air View for looking over a long text message. I wish Air View worked with every app in some way, like Facebook, but I'm still not too disappointed. The screen could be a little brighter when you're outside, but almost every screen has that problem when the sun hits it just right. The battery could last longer, but at least you can change it out. My only real concern with the device is sometimes I "overload" it and it automatically restarts itself. It's a minor inconvenience considering the device is back up and ready to work in 10-15 seconds and running faster than before. This is my first smartphone, I've had iPod Touches before, but this takes the cake as my favorite device. I've followed Samsung since the announcement for the GS3, and ever since then I've been hooked. I may be a little bias when it comes to Samsung products, but only because no other products can match. The only other product on the market that is equal to the GS4 is the HTC1, and the only thing that device has going for it over the GS4, is the speakers in the front instead of in the back. I find that I have to angel my device so the sound bounces off of a surface to get the best quality sound, but it's not that much of a hassle and I'd still pick this phone over any other.

Made the switch from iPhone 4s. Took a while to get used to but it's worth it. The only thing I miss is the visual voice mail. The voice mail on the S4 seems so dated. Any chance of an updated voice mail anytime soon?

Best phone ever owned

Coming from a long time (over 10 years) apple user of all kinds of devices. I decided to jump into the shark infested waters and get this highly anticipated SG4. From the moment I opened the box I was thrilled with it's sexiness. The actual build is not anywhere near the quality of an iPhone, plastic vs metal and glass, but it's performance blows away the iPhone in every way possible.
