My SG4 experience

This phone has great features and a really good camera. I purchased this phone late June 2013, and have had to replace my 4 times and it has only been a year. Three times have been due to technical difficulties, such as a line of dead pixels and the phone automatically shutting off. I recently got this phone replaced about a month ago, and now I keep getting notifications that there is fatal error with the camera, and I have to keep restarting the phone. This phone is also extremely delicate, and must have a case. Other than having to get the phone replaced, I think it is a great device!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, camera
Cons: Poor quality, not durable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love the look of the screen and the look and feel of the phone, however it is slow and clunky. My first one broke down right in the middle of listening to music and texting and I had to wait four days before I could get another one.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Trouble with AT&T
on August 13, 2014

I've had my phone for 9 months now and didn't have any issues until a couple months ago. I would try to send texts and the little thinking thing would just keep circling. I'd reset my phone and then it would work and I'd get missed texts I hadn't been getting. I went to the AT&T store and they center me to the AT&T service center. They said it's something with the new update on the Galaxy something with the security settings are interfering with the AT&T towers and the signal is lost sometimes when your cell phone switches towers. The AT&T service center did a "flash" on my phone and said that was pretty much guaranteed to work. Well.... it didn't. I went back to the AT&T service center and they said oh well it only works 50% of the time. Now you have to go to the Samsung service center which is 15 miles away. I have yet to go, but hoping Samsung will be able to resolve the problem!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Durable
Cons: photos dark
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Check reviews before buying

The bigger screen is very good, however minor issues with sound and sensitivity are not the best. In order to hear my phone ring, I need to have the volume turned almost all the way up; apparently this is not an isolated issue as I had my phone replaced and still had the same issue. Screen sensitivity happens a lot, I will put my phone down and have clicked into an app or made a phone call.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Not high def, Did not meet expectations, ring volume, screen sensitivity
I would recommend this to a friend!

I would definitely recommend these phones, but I would follow that with sage advice. Can you afford the time?
We purchased 2 GS4 phones December 2013. It is now August 2014 and we are still struggling to understand and coordinate all the features of these phones with our Windows PC. We have spent hundreds of hours on the phone with tech support, online looking for software, and loading, testing and unloading apps.
The file system assumes the only reason you would want to save a file is if it is pictures or video. I use mine for DATA. Data columns are meant to display recordings.
Google controls everything. The system assumes you are in love with Google. If you are - great!
This is not a slam against Samsung. It is a generic warning to newcomers to Android smartphones (like us). Be prepared and willing to devote an enormous amount of time to setting up your phones to do get it to do what you are dreaming of. Without this effort, the phones can text, make calls, and take pictures. Even these features take time to learn. Beyond that requires you to work at setting it up - even with tech support.
On the other hand, if you are a veteran to Android phones you know what you are getting into.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: speaker is on the back - i am on the front?, designed for music and video not data, hard to figure out how to use features., long list of accounts., long list of calendars, difficult to avoid paying extra for data., no way to remove built in apps., no wireless sync of calendar built in., no built in app for secure password storage., too many hours on phone with tech support.
I would recommend this to a friend!

PIN lock on phone
on September 26, 2014

If you happen to forget the PIN code to your phone or accidently change it to the wrong thing, there is no way to get into your phone without resetting and erasing everything on it. I find it pretty hard to believe that with how advanced our technology is, Samsung never thought to create a way to unlock a phone without erasing it!!!
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: Not high def, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
