This printer works very well. Once it starts printing it prints very quickly. The primary function I do not like is the manual feed. You can only feed one sheet of paper at a time in if you are using the manual feed. You have to stand there and feed the paper in a sheet at a time and it jams frequently. The paper tray feed has no problems.
The other issue I have is minor. The printer goes into sleep mode very quickly and every time I print I have to wait 20-30 seconds for it to "warm up" before printing begins. Once printing begins, it prints quickly.
The color and resolution on the pages is very good though.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fuser roller wears out prematurely

I purchased one of these printers and then two more as I was thrilled with the print quality and price. So far two of them have had their fuser rollers lose their coating just shortly after the one year warranty expired.
Bits of brown roller material started to come out of the printer one day in little bits and then larger and larger bits. This continued with large spots of unwelded toner occurring on the pages. Finally a large enough area wears off that the paper would feed and then terminally jam in the roller. At that point you unplug it and it becomes a paperweight.
Interestingly the rollers of both wore out on the left side in the exact same spot. On checking the internet, this seems to be a common problem with the fault in the same location, so to my eye, this seems to be a quality problem. No remedy has been offered. There seems to be a considerable side industry with an abundance of off brand rollers for sale for this printer on the internet but I couldn't be bothered.
The repair of the roller is more than the cost of the original printer so I am hoping that the 3rd printer will at least run long enough to use up the toner cartridges that I invested in. We will see but I'm doubting it. And yes, they are genuine brother toner cartridges.
I've been laser printing since the 1980's and have had some workhorse printers from
Brother but this model is quite a disappointment.

Super Great Printer for the price

Printer functions like said, has all functions I want in a laser color printer, wireless connection and the auto 2 sided printing, fast prints, great color, quiet, great price. Very pleased with the overall performance of this printer. This is my second brother laser printer, they took over my hp laserjet and my samsung clp 315 laser color printer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not What I Expected

Purchased printer on 8/5/14. On 5/15/15 while printing, it started making a loud clicking noise and pieces of reddish stuff was stuck to my paper. After troubleshooting with a rep from Brother I was told to return the printer for a refurbished one. Printer was still under warranty. Received refurbished printer (not a new one) on 5/20/15. On 10/28/15 I had more trouble, the printer needed a new fuser unit. Brother ordered the part, sent it to me and a local rep installed it. I have only had this printer 16 months. Too many repairs-wish I didn't buy it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This a great printer. "Near photo" output quality. Wireless setup was a breeze. It operates seamlessly with my iMac, iPad and my Windows XP laptop. Super value!
