A few issues

While the color may be great for a business or everyday user, I am a crafts person and am disappointed with the color when I compare it to my ink jet printer. I've used the best paper with printing so it's not the paper. Also, the plastic material of the trays do not slide easily and closing the paper drawer is always a challenge.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Needs Improvement

The printer set up easily and print outs are good. The issue is the manual feed is a joke. It only holds a sheet or two at a time and has no support for the paper. I ordered an extra tray, but the trays have no way of indicating to the printer what paper the size is, therefore you have to tell the printer through menus what the paper size is in the printer. The next size printer has a decent manual paper tray, but it does not have the wireless feature and costs twice as much. If you only print letter size and nothing else, it'll be a great printer for you.

Although I really like the printer and the quality of work it does, I am horrified at the cost of the replacement ink cartridges. And furthermore, the wireless capability may be good, I really cannot say because I am unable to connect. So, I use a long USB cable connection. That works, wireless does not (for me anyway).
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Ir was encouraged by a friend to purchase this printer for exceptional printed picture copy. I hate the pictures! They are grainy and of unacceptable quality to even use. I wish I had bought a much cheaper inkjet printer or had kept the needed paper work to return this printer!

This printer replaced an HL-4040CN. It's noisier than the 4040 and the single sheet feed tray isn't as nice. The duplex printing is a nice feature. I've only had it a week but it's working fine and the price was hard to beat.

great printer

I really like the printer. The photo quality is also amazing. I really like the double sided printing. It also prints quite fast.
I do not like the high pitch squeal it makes every time it prints something. I would like to find a way to turn it off or at least turn down the volume.
