Good Printer and Amazing Customer Service

I have been using brother printers with my company for over a year. The HL-3170CDW is a great value. Wi-Fi feature is great. It s easy to set up, and works every time.
Brother customer service is exceptional as well. I had a problem with my fuser, and they replaced it under warranty. They were very helpful and easy to contact. Highly recommended.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Worth the money

I have been waiting for a reasonable color laser printer and now have found one. This machine prints in great color and the double sided is a bonus. The only thing negative I have to say is that I have a chomebook and thought the wireless connection would allowed it to print, but it won't I still have to print using the cloud.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good Printer

This is overall a good printer. Takes a while to print jobs. Also, the toner runs out very quickly. I have been using just the black toner on the lowest quality level with the save toner setting and I have printed about 600 pages and it already asked for a new toner replacement. On the product, it says it is supposed to last about 2,500 pages which is not even close.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not the Best Drivers or Support for Google Cloud

If you're planning on using this printer from a Chrome OS device, or remotely or via a mobile device (Google Cloud Print)... you're going to have issues with the printer continually needing to be re-registered with the Google Cloud (which you can only do while on your home network). Also the Mobile print drivers and Google Cloud Print drivers have no option for 2-sided printing. These are 2 of the main reasons I purchased this printer, so I am pretty disappointed. Other than that, the toner cartridges are quite small and have to be purchased frequently even with minimal printing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A worthy purchase

I use Brother products at my office daily, we have machines that are upwards of 10 years old still going strong, so I figured looking at a color laser for home was a good idea. Our ink-jet (name brand) gets used very little and the cost of replacement cartridges plus my time to constantly try to keep it working was far greater than the cost of this machine which I can leave sit for months and not worry about drying up. It does not have the photo-print quality of the name brand ink jet but that was not the reason to purchase, I purchased for reliability and it delivers.

I haven't had the best of luck with this printer! I bought it so that I could print ingredient & chocolate labels, it's been a challenge to say the least!!! I have to say though if it wasn't for the staff associated & Tech Crew ALWAYS being willing to help me with my frustration OR situation I would have either sold or returned the machine to Staples...truly it's been the staff & Tech Support who are the gems!!!

Worthless Wireless

Pros: It prints and the quality is decent.
Cons: Whenever it goes into a deep sleep, the wireless turns off and the entire printer falls off the network. The only way i have found to get it to reconnect is to shut the printer down and restart it. I contacted support and they told me that there was no way to fix this "feature", sleeping can not even be turned off. They need to update the firmware, then maybe, you can use the wireless. Additionally the duplexing is hit or miss; it jams about half the time.
Other Thoughts: The support staff was not knowledgeable at all. Every bad suggestion they had came after they put me on hold for 20 minutes to do research. I spent three hours on the phone and I got no where. I'd return it, but I need a printer and it does print well.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good so far!

I bought this printer because I was tired of replacing inkjet inks frequently, even though I rarely needed color. [Of course when I DO need to replace the color toners I know it will be expensive!] Fortunately, with this printer it is easy to insure that black / white / gray images are printed using black toner only. Also, some of the internal parts of this printer are replaceable, so I shouldn't have to trash it as soon as I did my last two (non-Brother) black & white laser printers.
I would recommend this to a friend!
