Fast and reliable

I purchased this after unsatisfactory results with three inkjet printers that all proved unreliable. My problem with inkjet printers probably relates to my inconsistent demand cycles, and my tendency to use aftermarket ink cartridges. However, my recollection of older color laser jets is that they were slow and expensive. This laser jet was a very pleasant surprise. Not only was the price reasonable, but the printer has turned out to be both fast and reliable. It doesn't print pictures as well as my prior inkjet printers, but that appears to its only weakness. I am very pleased with this printer.

Just right

Bought this for home use for recipes and producing materials for non-profits. Dithered between this model, which fits my space, and its faster larger sibling. Print quality is better than the demo and it is plenty fast enough. I am completely satisfied.

Great price for color laser printer. Fantastic copies from MacBook Pro or iPhone. I haven't had to purchase refill cartridges yet but love it so far. I do miss ability to copy a single page but that is minor, as I photograph the page and then print it.

Poor Manual Paper Handling

The paper handling of your manual feed is very poorly designed. It does not allow for multiple page to be placed for continuous printing of multiple pages. There is no support for the page that is being loaded so that it feeds straight. I have had to clear two paper jams.

wireless connectivity problems

Wanted a dependable laser color printer for the center of household activities ( 2 high school students) wireless connectivity has been a pain, finally gave up and it works fine wired, but it's not what i wanted.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have enjoyed this printer's little B&W brother for almost 2 years and when our existing color printer died we found the 3170 at the top of our evaluation list. Great decision!

Before this printer I spent a money in small catridges en inject printer, but this laser gave me more crispy prints.
