Efficient!

I have tried other brands and find that Brother is the best for my home office projects. My new HL-3170CDW exceeds my expectations. It prints fast with clean, professional results in both color and mono. If you're looking for cost savings and a trusted product you can't go wrong with Brother equipment!

offline issues

Great printer with a large footprint

Purchased this printer on clearance due to my experience with other brother products. I have not been disappointed. Color reproduction is clear, with relatively fast print times. Wireless connectivity is not great so my unit is hard wired which is not a problem for me but could be an issue for others. Overall for the price I paid which is too low to mention and the units performance, I am very happy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Reliably good job

I have used Brother printers and scanners with my Apple computers, and have found them the most reliable and "untemperamental" peripherals so far. In fact, when giving support to friends and family, I've often recommended that they use Brother products if they are using Apple computers. (They may be equally useful with other PCs, but I've no experience with this.)

Great Printer with some glitches

My previous printer HL-3040CN was a work horse. It finally needed replacing, so I bought this one. I love the "Two-Sided" printing feature. The colors on my old Brother were all washed out, but the colors on this one are excellent & sharp. I needed to have a printer that could print on light card-stock like the old one. The HL-3170CDW specifications say it can't be done. But I experimented with it & "Yes" it can print on Avery 3265 Greeting Cards!
The one glitch that may be the fault of my iMac, the software, or the Brother, is that if left without being used for too long, it refuses to print. The "Data" light blinks, then quits and the screen just says "Ready" with no explanation as to why it won't print. I have to completely reboot the computer to get it to print again.
But other than that, I really like it. It is well built!

Great color printer

We needed a color printer for our occasional business needs, and based on prior experience with Brother laser printers we didn't hesitate to purchase this model. So easy to set up and use, we couldn't be happier.

Great printer

Prints clear, has had no problems. Have not had to replace starter ink yet and I print a lot. Really fast. If I would have known how well this laser works would have gotten earlier. Since it is wireless I keep it on a cart but has become main printer love it
