What's great about it: The variety of music
What's not so great: I can't think of any
Many have summarized it here better than I will. I just bought this CD after listening to the sample music and of course because I now own the movie!.... but at the Best Buy store they erroneously charged me $13.99 and when I went to their CS desk they price matched it with the sale price as advertised now! I haven't stopped listening to it since I purchased. I am considering buying the 2nd part, however I like fewer songs from the 2nd album so I may just download the ones I like from my Itunes or other music carrier for these individual songs since I don't think it's worth buying the whole thing. Great buy that any fan of the series and/or movie need to have in their collection.

Just like the ladies of SITC, the songs of the SITC Soundtrack all bring their own unique flavor to combine into one unbeatable ensemble. This soundtrack embodies what every good movie soundtrack should have: the old, the new and the old with a new twist. It should have diversity along with some cohesiveness. For this soundtrack, the diversity of genres makes it interesting. Some songs on this are good, and some are just brilliant. The soundtrack starts of with Fergie’s “Labels of Love”, a catchy pop dance tune that embodies all things SITC. The soundtrack then does not follow the expected route and continue with more pop hits. Rather, it takes a long and winding path through the story, hitting a plethora of genres on the way. There is a soulful, bluesy song “All Dressed Up” by Jennifer Hudson and an amazing duet with Al Green and Josh Stone, “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart”. For the truly nostalgic, there is a hauntingly beautiful cover of “Auld Lang Syne”. Then the journey takes new turns. The classic rock Aerosmith/Run DMC classic, “Walk This Way” is included as well as the classics, “How Deep is Your Love” and “Heart of the Matter”. These last two songs are my favorites on the soundtrack. These are both amazing remakes of the classics. The Birds and the Bees’ rendition of “How Deep is Your Love” is at once familiar and different. India.Arie places her own unique sound on “Heart of the Matter”. Again, the songs has not be changed to the point that the very essence of the song is gone, nor is it the same exact song we are used to which we hum along, just with a different voice. Both are beautiful, skilled remakes that actually offer something very new while still preserving the integrity of the song. Keeping pace with the twists and turns of the movie, the soundtrack journeys into the dance music arena with songs such as The Weepies, “All This Beauty” and Morningwood’s “New York Girls”. Even though many of songs have lyrics that reflect the movie, the true genius in this compilation is in how the songs all reflect the women of SITC: some are slow and sweet, some are fast and clever but in the end, they all enjoyable.

What's great about it: Perfect to listen by yourself or with the girls
What's not so great: Not family friendly, not for the DH
This is the perfect CD for the next girls night in . . . or out. I was not a HUGE fan of the show, and watched very few episodes when they orignially aired. I did not care for the movie tht much, it was OK, but not FANTASTIC, but this CD is a nice mix of differents song/ singers/ and feelings. I especially liked the Joss stone remake.

What's great about it: get off your butt & dance
What's not so great: none
This is one of those cd's that you have to listen to over and over & over again! It has some great dance music, but the song Auld Lang Syne - Mairi Campbell/Dave Francis-has this haunting emotion that just follows you & you can't get it out of your mind-but in a good way! You will love this cd! Even my tigers love it! (And they are REALLY picky!)

What's great about it: Blast from the past with Run D.M.C. and Aerosmith
What's not so great: some cheesiness
This soundtrack is an eclectic mix of new and old and old made new. It is an indulgent treat that has something for everyone. The original songs get you up and moving. The remakes and the classic Run D.M.C/Aerosmith song take you down memory lane. It can be summed up as a contemporary throw-back.
Labels or Love – Fergie
Regardless of how you feel about Fergie, you can’t help but get up and move to this song. It is an upbeat, feel good song. It is the perfect song for the girls of the City.
All Dressed in Love – Jennifer Hudson
When I first heard this song, I felt as though I entered a time portal. It’s a contemporary throw back to the divas of the past. It has a definite Gladys Knight/Aretha flavor. It makes you want to sing along….while shopping.
The Look of Love – Nina Simone
This song starts out with a Jazz feel and turns into something you would have expected to hear as passengers boarded The Love Boat. It has a nice beat to it but it feels dated.
New York Girls – Morningwood
This song is reminiscent of the techno-pop/rock style of the 80’s. It makes you want to get up and dance, you just can’t help but bob your head to the beat. It’s a fun song.
All This Beauty – The Weepies
Can you say The Carpenters? That’s the feeling I got when listening to this song. For the older generation, it’s a trip down memory lane. For the younger generation, it’s one that would be passed over.
I Like the Way – Kaskade
More instrumental than not, it still has a nice mellow dance beat to it. It oozes sexy.
It’s Amazing – Jem
Beautiful slow piano intro turns into a contemporary love song. The middle part of the song strays from that line into an out of place digitalized voice production reminiscent of something from the Sgt. Pepper’s band. Thankfully that didn’t last long and the song quickly got back on track.
How Deep is Your Love – The Bird and The Bee
They did a wonderful job of remaking the Bee Gee’s hit song. It brought a beautiful classic song to the present. This contemporary remake stayed true to the original while still making it seem fresh.
The Heart of the Matter – India Arie
India Arie does a nice job of remaking this Don Henley song. She brought a fresh sound to it. Unfortunately, unlike How Deep is Your Love, the original is better than the remake.
Auld Lang Syne – Mairi Campbell and Dave Francis
A beautiful version of this traditional song. It has a definite Irish or Celtic sound to it. It gives you goose bumps. Definitely a new favorite for New Year’s.
Kissing – Bliss
A slow, seductive, romantic song. You can’t help but relax and get in the mood with this song.
How Can You Mend a Broken Heart – Al Green featuring Joss Stone
Another contemporary throw back. It stays true to the sounds of the original but with a contemporary feel. Dim the lights and lose yourself to this beautiful remake.
Walk This Way – Run-D.M.C and Aerosmith
A real blast from the past, you can’t help but relive the video in your head. What a great way to introduce a whole new generation to a great song from the 80’s. Get up and strut your stuff!

What's great about it: great mix of music
What's not so great: not for those who only like one kind of music
I am sure there are a lot of people who will buy this cd just because of the movie, but it has a lot of great music music and can stand on it's own merit. It includes a great mix of artists, from Run-D.M.C. to india.arie to Fergie. This makes it a great party CD, with a little something for all your friends to enjoy. Look at it because of the movie, but buy it because it is a great CD.

What's great about it: It offers a varitey of music from Jazz to Rap and everything in between
What's not so great: Sometimes you just can't remake an original
It's been years since those four fabulous Divas have come into our homes through HBO and given us something to talk about around the water cooler.
May 27th was the release date for the new SATC Movie Soundtrack. The fourteen tracks offer a diverse genre of music and has something for everyone. It's witty, sexy and fun just like our four favorite women: Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda.
1.) Fergie: "Labels or Love" Fergie continues her infectious upbeat vocals on the song, "Labels or Love". It depicts the storyline of seven seasons of "SATC" and describes its purpose. Carrie Bradshaw moved to New York for "Labels and Love" and Fergie captures great moments with this song's lyrics name dropping designer brands like: "Gucci, Fendi, Prada purses, purchasing them finer things ...Men they come a dime a dozen, just give me them diamond rings...I'm into a lot of bling, Cadallic, Chanel and Coach" as the song moves into a wannabe rap adventure...but how can you not help but get caught up in the song when it flirts "Love is a run way...."
2.)Jennifer Hudson: "All Dressed In Love"
You may remember her from American Idol, however, this Jennifer is all grown up...maybe too grown up. This song showcases her singing ability and has you looking to hear more. The movie features Ms. Hudson as Carrie's new assistant, Louise from St. Louis.
3.) Nina Simone: "The Look of Love" From the move and groove of Fergie, the soundtrack moves to a more soft jazzy tune by Nina Simone, "The Look of Love". This Madison Park/Lenny remix will have you believing in love all over again as the music awakens something deep within you.
4.) Morningwood: "New York Girls"
Relatively new and a little too "hard rock" for my taste, I found myself hanging on to this song. Maybe I could hear Samanta in the lyrics: "In your tight black jeans...And my high heeled shoes ...God, I think you're hot...I got to get with you "
5.) The Weepies: "All This Beauty"
Don't let the title mislead you, this is soon to be the biggest must listen to break up song yet. With lyrics like: “We traveled all night, we drank the ocean dry and watched the sun rise...Let me assure you, friend, every day is ice cream and chocolate cake...I try to be honest, I try to be kind, and honestly leave when I know that it's time."
It depicts the emotions of confusion and at the same time discovery.
6.) Kaskade: "I Like The Way"
How can I not appreciate Kaskade, who moved to Salt Lake City, my hometown and then on to San Francisco, my favorite city!? The lyrics express love:"I like the way we move...From left to right...I like the way we move ...You here by my side."
7. Jem: "It's Amazing"
We haven't heard from this artist in four years and her comeback couldn't be better with "It's Amazing"...the title is pretty self-explanatory!
8. The Bird & The Bee: "How Deep Is Your Love"
There's no questions the lyrics are perfect, they are the same ones that came to life through the Bee Gees. That being said, sometimes you can't improve on the original.
9. India Arie: "The Heart Of The Matter" This is one of my most favorite songs on the soundtrack. It has heartfelt lyrics that make you revisit those in your life where you need to extend some forgiveness. 10: Mairi Campbell and Dave Francis: "Auld Lang Syne" It's a familiar song and Mairi Campbell's voice makes it seem suddenly new and fresh. Dave Francis plays acoustic guitar lending chords that accompany the lyrics and voice perfectly! 11: Bliss: "Kissing"
A beautiful ballad that moves you to those feelings you experience beyond the first kiss. 12: Al Green with Joss Stone: "How Can you Mend a Broken Heart"
This song takes you down memory lane, but really did not do much for me. 13: Run D.M.C. with Stephen Tyler and Joe Perry: "Walk this Way"
I'm an 80s girl. I LOVE this song! It had me getting up and dance and struttin' my stuff...a little bit of rock with some rap...my absolute FAVORITE song on the soundtrack!
14: The pfiefer Broz. Orchestra: "SATC Theme"
It's the original SATC Theme song on steroids and it is HOT! I love that they beefed the theme song up and still kept the feel of SATC!
There's plenty of variety in this soundtrack, something for everyone, and while I liked it on first "hear", after seeing the movie, I can tell you it really is a great soundtrack!
