What's great about it: commentaries
What's not so great: Could have more special features
I loved the series and love the DVDs. They could have some better special features but I do really like the commentary by the actors. It was interesting getting their take on some of the scenes and learning a little extra about them.

What's great about it: The plot, the packaging, the sale price
Not only is Burn Notice excellent, it is appropriate for anyone except children. It doesn't have any graphic (behavior) scenes or rampant drug use, although it does have fistfights and drinking and bullet wounds and drug dealers and sexy Miami Beach women. And lots of great explosions. I think the story is different and entertaining, and the characters are compelling. The hero usually saves the day, and gives you some useful spy tips.
The DVD set itself is pretty nice. I had some pixellation, just a second or two, but I have a cheap DVD player and TV (both from Best Buy, both great deals but not high end stuff). The case seems pretty sturdy, and each DVD has a seperate place to sit in so it won't get messed up. This is not always the case-- when I bought Futurama tapes the packaging was all paper and fell apart quickly. The Burn Notice packaging is higher quality. Shipping speed was average.

What's great about it: Great characters, frequent humor, compelling stories, and dead-on casting, just to name a few
What's not so great: Some people might get sick of the jobs that are dealt with in each episode. I didn't, but some might.
Burn Notice is a really fun show about Michael Westen, a spy working for an undefined agancy who learns that he has been burned and is now blacklisted and quarantined to Miami. Westen wants more than anything to learn who burned him, but it's not as simple as it sounds. His unknown opponent generally seems content to just keep him stuck in Miami, but as Michael gets closer to the answers he seeks, people occasionally do try to kill him.
That is just the overarching storyline, however. The bulk of the show involves Westen trying to deal with ex-girlfriend and former IRA agent Fiona, old friend Sam (a frequently show-stealing Bruce Campbell who is perfect for the role) and his mother and brother, who, though incredibly annoying to Michael, are trying hard to bring together a sort of family feeling and bring a greater depth to Michael and to the show in general. Each episode involves a story in which Michael is somehow recruited to help someone in trouble. Each of these cases involves the use of Michael's finely-honed espionage skills, which is really great because as he does anything relating to spy tricks-of-the-trade, Michael provides a cheeky voice-over that explains what's going on and gives spy tips. It's a lot of fun, and although the cases are resolved by the end of the episode and could be looked upon as a sort of gimmick, they don't overwhelm Michael's search for who burned him and are in fact quite compelling and unique.
Overall, this succeed as both a great spy show and detective series. Seeing Michael and his pals evade danger and discover the solution to each case is really interesting, making this one of the better shows on television.

What's great about it: Excellent acting, clever ideas
What's not so great: Mother character is a bit off
All the actors are good, especially the lead as the ex-CIA agent that has been 'Burned'. Bruce Campbell makes a welcome addition as the friend.
They basically find excuses for Jeffrey Donovan to perform a 1 hour mini spy drama while he is searching to find out why he was burned.
The thing I love the most about the show is the insights they display through voiceovers and Jeffrey's conversations. It's always great to watch an expert at work, and Jeffrey will explain why he's doing something or setting up a confrontation. The actors all effortlessly bring us through the process as he encounters a situation that normal people would have no chance at succeeding with, prepares, and uses his preparation and immense experience to resolve.
For example: when preparing to confront a gun-wielding drug dealer neighbor, he locates the studs in the wall adjacent to the apartment door and uses tape to mark them. Later, he confronts the bad guy who has a gun on the other side of the door. Using the tape marks as a guide he fires through the wall to incapacitate the bad guy before he has to enter the apartment.
Perhaps the only complaint I would have is the Mother character is a bit one-note and seems to exist only to introduce new problems for Jeffrey to solve.
Highly recommended.

What's great about it: This is great fun spy adventure
What's not so great: Gabrielle Anwar isn't in it enough
If you didn't catch this on USA, you need to pick up the full first season and see what 007 should have advanced to. Ms. Anwar is the ideal Bond girl. And the tongue in cheek tone is wonderful.
Our protagonist has been "burned". Turned in. There's a contract on him. He has to save his life by finding out who "burned" him. His former svelte sidekick is there to help. Of course she does have a penchant for shooting people.
And his mother is always asking him to help her strange friends. Of course a spy wants to help his mother.
There's a great car. Much intrique. And nothing is too serious. Spend your summer with the new season, but definitely catch up first.

What's great about it: Funny, lots of action, great chemistry
Burn Notice is another hit from the USA Network, which seems to have the Midas touch lately with great shows.
Jeffery Donovan stars as a US spy that has a "burn notice" put on him, basically fired, and is stuck in Miami doing odd jobs (using his spy talents and quirky friends.).
The acting is top notch, especially with cult favorite Bruce Campbell, playing the best friend.
There is a lot of action mixed with enough comedy and romance to fill out each hour but not going overboard as some shows do.
This is a must buy for any television fan, especially before the next season starts.
