Major problem with this product: the video is not digital quality because you are using AV cables connected to USB and not DV cable. Hence, if you play it anywhere other than in a small window on a computer screen or YouTube, you're going to get horrible results - like on a DVD player. Of course, if you're an amateur you might not realize that's a problem until after you get it home and try it out. Try putting this junk on your TV, and you'll see some of the worst video ever. The software that comes with the Dazzle is likewise total junk, and useless unless you want to pay extra for all the add-ons (and that means once you open it, you can't return it). Windows comes with Movie Maker and there are others available, so why you would need a commercial product that does the same thing out of the box is beyond me.
What's great about it: Idiot proof to set up, but not much else
What's not so great: Horrid video, featureless software

I was trying to download video of my friends who were on the Today show from the DVR to my PC. I could see the video in the preview window but was jerky with lost frames. Opened an online chat session with support. and they basically sent me a link to an article and said read it and open another case if it did not help. It didn't help so I am retuning it to the store. It would be a cool product if it worked or if you could get decent support.
What's great about it: If it worked, would be good way to get video moved to pc
What's not so great: eturned it to Best Buy - Jerky video with lots of lost frames - poor customer support

To setup you need to know a little about computers. Once the setup disk is loaded, my new Vista 64 bit computer did not recognize the Dazzle unit. I had to go to the website and download a driver. It should come on the disk. I was able to start the conversion, but you have to tell it you want to use the Dazzle unit in the software capture setup. It did fine on the conversion. Their editing and rendering software has never change on speed since I used it one other time years ago. It is slow. My computer has 6M RAM a fast dual processor and is made for everything video. Even with this my computer did not help their software. I have Sony Vegas software which I have used for years and even upgraded 3 times. It is 4 times faster on rendering that Pinnacle. The editing part of the Sony software is much friendlier. If conversion is all you want this to do, it will be OK, but don't count their software to finish the video. If you really need to convert VHS tapes wait for a sale or look for another product, otherwise Dazzle will not be worth it.
What's great about it: Video conversion from analog (VHS Tapes) to digital.
What's not so great: Editing and rendering sofware slow.
