Not as I thought it would be!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased Bosch dishwasher model #SHE65T55UC five weeks ago and am trying so hard to adjust. I wasn't aware that this appliance has no heating element to dry the dishes until I had it installed. I had to stop putting plastic in it altogether, but still much drying has to be done, especially insides of cups and glasses and their rims and much of the flatware where it contacts other pieces. The inside of the machine is always wet and there is always 12 ounces of water left under the filter that never dries out. I know this because I emptied it using a turkey baster and measured it several times. The rubber gaskets around the door do not dry either.
The water temperature coming in is 120 degrees. Using the sanitizing cycle and not opening the door for a while after washing is completed does not improve the drying as suggested. Leaving the door open for it to dry as suggested is not an option for me! The door has to be open about 15 inches for it to stay open since one of its features is that the door closes and latches on its own when it gets that close to closing. I didn't purchase this gorgeous machine to leave it open most of the time!
The express cycle works just as well as the other cycles for me and the third rack cuts down on the height capacity of the other racks making it impossible to wash wide serving platters or cutting boards. The tines are so close together that a 16 place setting of dinnerware can be placed in it, as advertised, but none of the tines will fold down on either rack so that a large bowl or pot will fit or incline. The machine also has a strange odor after each wash-sort of like a tire store. More cycles and the 3rd rack were the reasons I opted for the 500 series and now I find that I will not use them often. I'm disappointed and washing and drying more dishes by hand than ever before! The dishwasher is exceptionally quiet, washes well and is beautiful. That's about the only good things I can say about it. I'd like to have more options for placement of dishes and a machine that will dry them and itself and smell fresh after the wash.

Awful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this dishwasher 2 years ago after having owned a Bosch for more than 10 years. Our previous model was outstanding, and a work horse. It ran for 10+ years doing 3+ loads of dishes a day without a hitch. When it finally died we had no doubt we'd replace it with another Bosch.
This model is Awful!!!! The dishes come out dirty, stained and streaked, despite cleaning the filter 2-3 times per week, adding rinse agent every 2 weeks and buying expensive soap. We often have to run the machine twice just to get the dishes clean enough to use. I've resorted to hand washing again to save time, water and stress. I used to be Bosch's biggest fan. This dishwasher has cured me of that. I won't buy another

Not thrilled

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had this Bosch dishwasher for two weeks. It is indeed super quiet, but our old dishwasher cleaned and dried dishes better. So while it may be quiet and water and energy efficient, the trade-off is less clean dishes, my stainless steel silverware has tarnished (yes I followed the directions and didn't mix metals), and the other reviews are correct, the dishes and interior are not dry, you have to crack the door to let them air dry when the 2 hour and 15 minute normal cleaning cycle is complete. We find the cutlery compartments awkward, but I do like the third rack for long utensils.

Good washing - problematic rack tines
on July 27, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this dishwasher for 6 months now. Overall it does a fine job washing dishes and utensils on all 3 racks. However, compared to the previous Bosch that it replaced (12 years of use), the arrangement of the tines is far worse with this newer model. Most of the tines on this model are at an angle making placement of cups, glasses, and other non-plates and bowls incredibly difficult. Whereas with the old dishwasher it was easy to place large glasses on the lower rack tines (when the upper rack was already full), with this new layout this is not possible. EVERYTHING must go in at an angle which causes the glasses to tip. This new arrangement is very unforgiving and far less flexible. Wondering if the designers of these racks really put much thought into anything other than just putting plates and cups only where they were "supposed to go".

I never thought it would be so great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was buying all new appliances for my new "retirement" home and was told that Bosch was the best, the quietest, etc, so I bought this model. I absolutely love it. It's my favorite appliance in my brand new home!
I never hear the machine running, it's so quiet, and I have an open living space where sound can be magnified easily. This makes it easy to run the dishwasher while I entertain company. The dishes are done by the time the company leaves. And it's very easy to unload. I was a little skeptical of the silverware drawer where I separate all of the items on a slotted rack and thought that I might never use this feature. But I find that it's my favorite feature! When it is time to unload, I just grab the spoons, forks, and knives which I loaded by size and category, and put them right into the silverware drawer. It is a huge time saver. And I've put my sterling silver in and it comes out spotless. Having the separation between the items ensures that they all come out spotless without any food items sticking to them as they did in my previous dishwasher, which, by the way, was highly rated.
I couldn't be happier with my Bosch in my new kitchen. It was a smart buy and I recommend it to everyone!

Nice dishwasher with one big flaw.
on April 22, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] On the plus side it's quiet, looks nice and while I initially thought the top silverware rack was going to be an inconvenience I really like it and removed the basket all together. The one big problem is the lower rack which has rigid tines. The inability to lower them significantly impacts the placement of pots and large bowls, nearly impossible at times. I would call this a design flaw except that the more expensive model has tines that will fold down but this is a basic design feature that I should not have to pay hundreds of dollars more to acquire, nor did I even think I needed to consider it as my older dishwasher did not have this issue.

A Foot in our Door
on July 31, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First time Bosch purchase, things I noticed right away: packaging, leveling system, predetermined layouts and connections for water and electrical - well thought out German Engineering like their cars.
The main test will be the wash results.
After the first wash (almost silent run I should add) - My wife opens the door expecting to be disappointed, considering all the bad luck we been experiencing with other brands over the past two months, and a smile appears on her face.
We just closed the chapter on dishwashers and Bosch has their foot in our door.
Thanks Bosch -

worst dishwasher i've ever owned
on February 22, 2017

This supposedly top-end dishwasher is the worst I have ever owned, and I'm in my late 50s and have lived in over a dozen places and bought new dishwashers twice. It doesn't clean particularly well, is very difficult to load (the racks/tines just don't seem laid out properly for anything other than plates--not pots and pans, not cutting boards, not bowls, not glasses...), and worst of all, WILL NOT DRY THE DISHES! I've done everything recommended and finally concluded that the "condensation-drying system" just cannot work worth a darn (read the Bosch FAQs and manual and you'll learn that it is just a terrible approach). Who knew someone would make a dishwasher that's not supposed to dry the dishes!? And the 3rd rack thing is a nuisance and joke. Just takes up space and is useless.
