No Regrets (So Far)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Good
One reason I bought this machine is because of the recessed handle. It is installed at the corner of an "L" and I was concerned that a surface handle would obstruct opening the adjacent cabinet drawer.
Whisper quiet! Hard to know it's running.
Dishes always clean; haven’t found a dirty dish yet.
Easy operation, but we have only used the auto cycle. So far, that's all we've needed.
Only 1 stage detergent cup, so saves on detergent. Our old machine had two dispensing cups.
The Nit Picking
Installation is a bit different with a plug-in cord instead of hard wired at the front of the machine. The line side of the cord goes to a junction box (included) to be installed in the adjacent cabinet. My machine was installed adjacent to an "L" cabinet extension, and the cord was a bit short to plug into the back of the machine because the "L" blocked my access on that side. Thought about making a longer cord, but it might be hard because the plug on the end going into the machine looked European. I don’t know whether you could purchase a similar plug here to make a longer cord.
I feel the tines in the bottom rack are too close; hard to fit irregular sized dishes like pie plates and pot lids. I would suggest an arrangement where every other tine could be folded down. On the plus side, the arrangement does allow you to pack in a greater number of dishes.
It's a pretty long cycle on auto - two and one-half hours. With this long cycle, I can’t comment on energy consumption.
The upper rack height is adjustable, but you have to pull out the entire rack then reinsert it in the higher or lower position. There is no knob or ratchet height adjustment. This is tedious, but we haven’t had the need to adjust the height anyway. I think Bosch makes a more expensive model with the auto height adjustment.
Flatware basket has cage covers to insert utensils through holes one at a time, to prevent nesting and permit thorough cleaning. Fortunately, the covers can be folded down out of the way so you can simply throw the utensils into the basket. After a week of tediously inserting the utensils through the cage covers, we did just that, and all the utensils cleaned just as well.
Again, all of this is just nit picking. If you want clean dishes and a quiet machine, you won't be disappointed.

Change the lower rack and it's a 5 in my book!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so excited about my new Bosch. Love the look, energy efficiency, leak protection, soap tablet dispenser in the upper tray and extremely clean dishes!! I can say that I am disappointed in the lower rack for 2 reasons. First, the silverware holder can only be placed on one side and you have to open the dishwasher fully and pull out the rack to put in a couple of utensils. My last dishwasher had it along the front so you could easily load it just by opening the door halfway. Sounds trivial but it is not as convenient. Second, the lower rack prongs are so specific, it is hard to get odd shaped dishes and pyrex to fit, wasting a lot of space. The lower rack is the only reason for my 4 stars.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this last month, and I haven't seen the performance I hoped for. It gets most dishes clean, but doesn't get the difficult stuff off - peanut butter, caked on ketchup, pots that had reside dry on them, etc. Doesn't do a great job of drying dishes, though I hear that most dishwashers don't these days. Also leaves some spots, even with rinsing agent. Not as many as my old dishwasher, but still... I thought Bosch was pretty top end.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Looking forward to my second Bosch dishwasher

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am looking forward to my second Bosch dishwasher. My first unit, now 10 years old, still runs perfectly and is only being replaced because we remodeled our kitchen and now have all stainless steel appliances. The new unit is even quieter than the old one, cleans dishes well and looks great.

Ultra quiet, cleans very well, lots of room

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought my old dishwasher was quiet, but my husband keeps asking why the LEDs are on when the dishwasher isn't running; it IS running, he just cannot hear it! Unbelievable.
Dishes come out perfectly clean so far (I've used it daily for the past week). Last night I had three very dirty pans, including a stainless steel pan I used to brown ground beef with some dark crusty spots. I used the "Heavy" cycle and selected "Extra Shine." Everything came out perfectly clean, including wine glasses that sparkled. (Until last night I had only used the "Auto" cycle, which also performs excellently. I just decided to try the "Heavy" cycle because of how dirty the pans were.) My plastics and silverware are coming out completely dry, another great improvement over my old dishwasher.
I had read in Consumer Reports to bring my dishes along when shopping, but I forgot and ended up ordering this Bosch sight-unseen from Sears. I am still getting used to loading it because it is so different from my old Samsung, but this dishwasher seems to hold about double what my old dishwasher held. I think the designers put a lot of thought and research into the configuration because everything just seems to have a place it will fit into perfectly. The tines are just slightly further apart, which allows me to place my plates in vertical position right next to each other instead of using every other tine and having to slant the plates. There is also plenty of room for my Anchor custard cups on the top rack, which I did not have before. I haven't needed to use this feature yet, but I am looking forward to folding down the tines on the top rack when I need to fit something that won't fit in the current configuration.
To sum it up, I am loving this dishwasher. I have not found anything I don't like about it. I am a very happy customer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bosch SHE53T55UC is sleek and affordable. As long as you're not looking for fancy LCD screens or interior lights then this machine is the way to go. It's simple, with a selection of cycles and wash options to meet every need. It's also has quick and efficient cleaning cycles. I love the sleek and unique design, it looks great in my kitchen. And you can't beat how quiet it is!

Really Quiet and Easy to Load
on September 9, 2015

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you are replacing a 10 year old dishwasher you are in for surprises. Some good. Some bad. The good things are how quiet it is and that dishes are done in less time. The disappointments are that with no heating coil it isn't just the plastics that are not completely dry. Even the door is wet. And the new ones don't have a garbage grinder so guess who cleans out the bottom of the washer.
