Quiet to the extreme

We had this installed in our new home three weeks ago and it is an excellent quiet machine that does a great job of cleaning. If it weren't for the light shining on the floor, I wouldn't even know if it was on.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Clean & Quiet

The dishwasher cleans superbly and is exceptionally quiet. If the red dot wasn't on the floor we would never be certain it was running. The European style of drying isn't to our tastes, you need to open the door and wait or hand dry most of the load, especially plastic containers. We are using Kirkland pods & Finish on the Auto setting. We tried the Sanitize setting and did not find it helps with the drying as some web posts suggested. Overall we are using the dishwasher 1-3 times every day and are VERY satisfied with results.
FINAL NOTE: we find the third rack totally worth the upgrade from the 300 series.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Would not buy again, but is super Quiet.

Pros:
- extremely quiet (can't even hear it when sitting 8 ft away),

Cons (because of below I would NOT buy another Bosch)
- Doesn't hold many glasses or bowls if they are average American bowls (if you have shallow bowls and glasses that are narrower than high balls, you'll be ok, but you'll run your dishwasher more frequently because you can't fill it with many bowls or coffee mugs, and larger items); hard to fit bowls, pots and pans
- doesn't dry plastic well
- lots of water left over unless you do sanitize

Good Wash but more difficult to install.

Just installed my Bosch. I know several people with this model who say it's a great wash that is why I purchased it.
I was misinformed on purchase. It makes me happy to see there is a 5 year limited warranty on electronic parts and not one year.
My only warning to anyone who installs this themselves. In the past 30 years I've installed over 50 dishwashers . A standard Dishwasher takes me around one hour to install. This Bosch like some in the past took triple that. So, just allow yourself enough time.

Runs Silent, Cleans Deep

Installed in our newly remodeled kitchen, this unit is beautiful. We elected to have all stainless steel appliances and the 500 Series always looks great. The bottom rack is for the main dishes and is easy to load; it holds a service for 8, dinner, salad and desert plates easily and if you needed to, you could stack and run a load of prep or serving ware. The middle rack is for cups, glasses, and small bowls and also holds a service for 8. It also has two little cup shelves that might hold four or five small cups, may cappuccino cups or something. There are two rows of tines that fold down so you can configure the stacking pattern based on the shape of your dishes and bowls. The top silverware rack is easy to load and allows for complete surface cleaning and doesn't leave food trapped on spoons that in a normal rack would nest.
There are several wash cycles and a delicate cycle for your Vera Wang or Waterford. Using a rinse agent, our glasses are spotless, and our dishes and silverware shine without water spots and everything is dry. However, the inside of the tub will be wet and this is normal operation.
Ease of loading and cleaning are the most important features, but there is one more that was primary for our situation. The dishwasher is located right next to the dining room. It had to be quiet. We were very surprised. The 500 Series runs so quiet that we often ask each other, "Hey, did we turn on the dishwasher?" I anticipated quiet but not so quiet that I could not discern if the unit was running or not. This is a home run. Luckily, there's an operation light at the bottom of the door that reflects against the floor: red for running and when the cycle is complete, the machine beeps several times and the red light shines green to indicate the cycle is complete.
Some changes I would suggest: Bottom rack: Provide tines that fold down to allow me to configure the stacking pattern. Middle rack: Skip the two cup shelves, they are more in the way than helpful; instead, provide about a dozen glass hooks that slide along the sides to set them apart based on glass or cup size. I love the silverware rack, don't change a thing! In spite of these suggestions, I still rate the Series 500 five stars.
