Sweet spot of features, design and affordability
on February 26, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this to replace a name-brand dishwasher (supposedly high-end, supposedly commercial-grade) that lasted about 7 years. The heating element had corroded; the tines on the racks had snapped off through normal use; the stainless steel tub was rusting. Repairman said that's how they build 'em these days.
Our family had owned a Bosch in Germany that cleaned like no other dishwasher we'd ever used, so we immediately started looking at the Bosch line. This particular model hit a sweet spot of feature set, design and affordability.
Most importantly, it cleans like our German-bought Bosch: that is, thoroughly. Even without soaking (though we do try to), the cruft that gets welded to dishes comes off even with our mild eco-friendly detergent. The third rack wasn't something we were used to, and it does take more care to load than just dumping the silverware in a tray; but by separating the utensils, it consistently gets them a lot cleaner. And it holds a lot more than a tray.
The range of cycles is just right for our family – not too many, not too few. We mostly stick to one or two in normal use anyway. Our previous dishwasher had about 25 different cycle combinations, but since it didn't clean much better than leaving the plates out in the rain, what good were all those bells and whistles?
The silence (and complementary running indicator) on the Bosch are nice touches. I've opened the door more than once while it was running because I didn't realize it was on, and I would've opened it many more times without the cool floor indicator light.
Another nice touch is the filter, which can be removed, cleaned and replaced in about 90 seconds. Compare that with our previous dishwasher, which forced us to remove multiple screwed-in sections to access a filter that regularly needed cleaning. Seriously, it was a junk heap of an appliance, and I wish I could name and shame the manufacturer here.
Downsides to the Bosch? The silver coloring on the primary buttons is already wearing off. They look grimy (see the photos) but they're definitely clean. They'd be more durable if they had a stainless steel cap.
A further, albeit minor, quibble is that the rack layouts aren't 100% geared to our particular plates and cookware. Either the tines prevent things from laying flat, or they're too close together for these plates, or they're too far apart for those. So we haven't found a perfectly satisfying, puzzle-piece fit for our loads, but it's never hindered the effectiveness of the wash.
All in all, we're pleased with the performance and style of this unit so far and hope that Bosch is breaking the current appliance trend by building things to last. This is a nice mid-range model that looks great and can handle the tough demands of a modest-sized family that home cooks and generates a steady stream of dirty dishes.

Not all we had hoped for...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought a Bosch because it is supposed to be quiet: Success in that aspect.
I was intrigued by the 3rd rack: Love it!!
What I didn't expect was the impracticality of the other two racks, especially the bottom one. If you have 25 plates to load, it might be just what you need, but we have a lot of various dishes that need to go on that bottom rack and it is extremely impractical (and downright frustrating) in that regard. My husband (the "loader" in our household) hates this dishwasher for that reason.

Best dishwasher I've ever had!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have only had our new dishwasher one week but I couldn't be more happy with the investment. I can barely tell it is running. If it weren't for the indicator light shining on the floor it would be very difficult since the controls are hidden. Even the messiest crock pot has come out perfectly clean. There are many ways to modify the settings to customize things exactly as you like. The 3rd shelf is great for serving utensils that normally are awkward to find space for. The second shelf is easy to change the height if there is a need based on the height of your glassware or tall pots on the bottom. My dishes are cleaner than they have ever been. It is quieter than anything I have ever owned. Also, I am the 3rd in my family to go with Bosch. My mother has had 2 (in different homes), and my sister has one as well. We are all convinced this is the brand for us.

Exceptional dishwasher. Great cleaning and quiet!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned this dishwasher for a year and a half. It is by far and away the best cleaning and most feature packed dishwasher.
The third rack is very convenient for large items like spatulas and serving pieces but it can be easily removed for tall items in the upper rack. The lower rack is large but my favorite feature is the ability to remove both upper racks and, with the quick installation of a small accessory, i can clean extremely large pots and my bbq grates. This is an extraordinary feature that is unique to the Bosch line of dish washer and i love it.
The machine is extremely quiet. I cannot hear it.
It cleans wonderfully. I use the auto feature all the time. This machine knows more about washing dishes than i ever will. So i let it do its thing!
Once i activated the "Intensive Dry" feature (check your manual) the dishwasher drys perfectly and spotlessly.
Use your rinse aid for best results. And always use Finish detergent. It is recommended and it works.

Best deal on the market......period..............!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Rather than repair our 15yr old Dishwasher that gave us great service, we opted to get a new one. We looked, we compared, we both came to the same conclusion: Bosch was the only way to go. Our old model had the adjustibable racks and we knew we didn't use that feature and we didn't need the built-in water softening feature as we just run an empty load with a 1/2 bottle of Lime Away every 6 months to clear away any hard water build up.
We are both delighted with the way this model is designed and all the dishes and utensles come out sparkling clean even when crusted with dried on avocado! No complaints whatsoever. Nada. Just have to let hot water get to the faucet in the sink adjacent just like all dishwashers just prior to running to assure the drying of dishes. I feel we purchased the best dishwasher on the market for anywhere near the price......period..! We are BOTH happy and that's important ....I believe.....great product....period!

Spend a little more for a whole lot

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We owned a Bosch previously and I was going to go with the less expensive model. However, looking at Consumer Reports and other reviews I ended up spending a but more for this. It was not the features but rather the ratings and reviews that moved me.
However, this dishwasher is awesome. Having the features now, I see the value. Firstly quiet is not the right word, it is silent. The only noise is when it drains and that's not the dishwasher, it is the water in the drain.
The silverware 3rd rack is incredibly useful. I doubted it would be but being able to remove the traditional silverware basket the other night allowed me to fit everything instead of hand washing some.
The adjustable "top" rack (not the silverware rack) is also something I never though we'd use. Now both my wife and I find ourselves adjusting it periodically. You know when you spin the sprayer below the rack to ensure nothing is blocking it? Now you can fix it by raising the rack in seconds. And if you have something tall on the upper rack you can lower it.
The look is great, cleans easy. I did the install myself and that too was easy. My only trouble was our old dishwasher was "hard wired" so our electrical comes out of the wall in the dishwasher opening. The newer ones use a junction box (included) and a cord that plugs into the dishwasher. So I had to run my electrical into an adjacent space (under the sink), wire the included junction box and mount that under the sink. Then I drilled and extra hole to the dishwasher opening to pass back the dishwasher cord.
This included everything I needed, intake hose with fitting, drain hose with adapter for the P-trap.
Installation start to finish took me 2 hours. Again, I had to back track a little for the electrical. I did have my old one removed prior to starting.
To close, it doesn't leave glasses as dry as our old Bosch - even with rinse aid, which we never used in our old one. We let them sit, sometimes with the door cracked, for 20-30 minutes and they dry nicely.

Family Bliss
on August 7, 2015

The entire family wishes we had upgraded to the Bosch years ago! Our previous machine was incredibly loud in comparison, caused dish pan hands from having to rinse everything well before loading and did not make efficient use of the interior space.
The answer to our prayers was this fantastic Bosch machine. It's incredibly quite (and almost seems to purr), there are a number of ways to configure loading to meet the varying needs of any family and no pre-rinsing is needed. Pound for pound, dollar for dollar this machine is worth its weight in gold.

Very happy with purchase

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cleans beautifully with no issues. Top third rack is extremely useful especially after using lots of utensils while cooking. Practical selection of cleaning cycles. As expected the machine is very quiet, the red light that shines on the floor when running is a good "extra". Stainless cleans effortlessly with damp cloth.
